Description: Remus wakes up one morning to find all of his socks missing, and Sirius explains his favorite holiday. (Inspired by Pengiwen's Marauders, 'National Sock Appreciation Day').

Story:

It was a chilly January morning when Remus Lupin woke up. He was snuggled under the covers in just the right way, watching the snow fall through the window for a few minutes before he decided to get up.

Sirius had already gotten up, but Remus wasn't bothered. It was often that Sirius woke up before Remus, though they both liked to sleep in, typically.

Remus shuffled over to his wardrobe and pulled a thick sweater over his head and stepped into his joggers. He opened his sock drawer, looking for his fuzzy wool socks only to find that his sock drawer was completely empty.

Remus had a sudden flashback to Sirius and James teasing him about his folded socks and his first reaction was to check what Sirius was up to.

He was right to be suspicious because when he opened the bedroom door, Sirius froze and hopped down from the chair he was standing on, holding a pair of his own socks behind his back.

Remus's mouth hung open as he turned a full circle. Their whole entire cottage was covered in socks. They were tied together in garlands over the doorways and windows, twisted around the banister, littered all over the carpet and the furniture.

"Heyyyy, Moony," Sirius said in his carefully crafted innocent voice from years of sweet talking his way out of punishment at Hogwarts.

"Sirius, what on Earth--"

"Happy National Sock Appreciation Day!" Sirius interrupted, throwing the pair he'd been holding into the air like confetti.

"Happy what?"

Sirius pouted, hurt that Remus didn't understand. "It's my favorite holiday."

Remus raised an eyebrow, trying to fight the amused smirk trying to make its way onto his face. "You made that up."

"No I--okay, it came to me in the wee hours of the morning, but isn't it brilliant Moony?"

Remus shook his head with a smile, walking closer to Sirius, stepping on socks as he went. "Why do you have so many socks?"

Sirius looked incredulous. "Why don't you have so many socks?"

Remus sighed. "Can I at least wear a pair? My toes are cold."

Sirius gasped. "Well we can't have your toes being cold, now can we? Accio Remus's socks!"

A random pair flew at Sirius and wrapped around his face before he had time to catch them. "Blah! You're lucky these are clean!"

"Those aren't the ones I want," Remus objected, laughing quietly.

"Accio Remus's socks!"

"Nope."

"Accio Remus's socks."

"I want the wool ones."

"Accio Remus's wool socks."

"No, the purple ones."

"Accio Remus's purple wool socks!"

Remus laughed. "You were close that time. Can I just grab them? I can see them from here."

Sirius gave him a look. "Of course not. You'll mess up the decorations."

Remus looked at the mess Sirius had already made trying to summon his socks and looked back up at Sirius. He was trying to fight a grin also.

"One more time?"

"Ugh, fine."

"Accio Remus's purple wool socks!"

That time, the right pair flew into Sirius's hands, but they were tied in the middle of a long garland of the socks and the whole thing collapsed.

"Thank you," Remus said passively as he pulled on his socks while Sirius spluttered at his ruined sock decorations.

Eventually, he decided that it had taken him long enough to put up the first time and he just sighed and turned to Remus, who was making tea in their little kitchen and looking like a cuddly fur ball. As soon as Remus was done preparing his tea, Sirius led him over to the couch after sending a quick incendio towards the fireplace. Sirius fell into the couch and dragged Remus down with him and the two spent the morning cuddling on the couch and watching the snow and the fire flickering in the fire place and thinking about the mess of socks they would have to clean up later.
