Description: Sirius's height is a focal point for his friends' teasing.
Story:
Sirius was short. Yes, he knew this. But it didn't mean he had to like it. It was embarrassing enough when he was at his apartment with his tall-ass boyfriend and had to climb onto the counter to grab things from the cupboard only to have Remus come up behind him and pluck it right off the shelf for him.
Yes, he was short. And it was a favorite activity of his friends to tease him about it.
Peter was only slightly shorter than him, so he stayed out of the teasing, but even Lily had surpassed his height, if only by a quarter inch. Yes, he'd made her measure multiple times. Oh, he relished the days back in school when he was taller. He'd even been taller than Remus back then. For the first three years in school. Then Remus hit a growth spurt and grew taller than the lot of them, and it stayed that way.
James was tall too, only a few inches shorter than Remus, and he was the first to playfully tease Sirius about his height.
"It's the coffee," Sirius would defend every chance he got. "The coffee's stunted my growth!"
It was true, he drank coffee like a madman. And he drank it black too. He would claim that he like it as black as his name, or his soul. Only Remus knew that secretly Sirius despised the taste of it black and would jump at the chance to put a whole load of cream in it if the mug only had a lid.
It had been a long day at work, and when Sirius got home, Remus was sitting on the counter reading his book. He held the book open between his knees, cupping the tea mug in his hands.
Sirius smiled softly at the sight, hanging his leather jacket up on the coat rack and kicking off his boots.
"Love, why are you on the counter?" He asked, coming to stand in front of him and pecking him on the lips.
Remus giggled and pulled away, cradling his tea to protect it from being spilled. "Just 'cause," he answered, absorbed by the book in his lap.
Sirius grabbed a receipt off the counter that Remus had been using as a bookmark and slipped it in the book and closed it, setting it aside.
"Hey!" Remus protested, "At least let me finish the chapter!"
"You say that every time, love. One chapter will turn into two, then three, then four...and you'll read the night away and I won't have anyone to talk to."
Remus squinted at him and then sighed. "Fine, you're right. Let me finish the page?"
Sirius laughed. "Nooooo."
Remus set aside his tea and took Sirius's hand and hopped off the counter, coming to tower over Sirius.
Sirius pulled him into a hug, burying his nose in the comforting aroma of his boyfriend's favorite sweater.
Remus poked Sirius in the side, eliciting a shout of surprise. Remus laughed and started tickling him.
Sirius shrieked and laughed and finally Remus stopped tickling him. Sirius huffed, blowing his hair out of his face. "I will not even hesitate to strangle you."
Remus gave him a grin that Sirius knew always came with a sarcastic comment.
"Can you even reach my neck?"
"Oh, you little shit--"
