Yeah, I've discussed it with myself
And I'm disgusted with the way
We are told to have a certain face
A certain weight, be flawless
We aren't pixels on a screen
No we're humans, we breathe
Every single thing we see, curated
It's overrated𝕆𝔹𝕊𝔼ℝ𝕍𝔼ℝ
Naomi is clearly nervous. she's hasn't been on a date with anyone for a long time. her last date was in the ninth grade ie 5 whole years ago and she's never interacted with any guy (except for her best friend's boyfriend ; in a friendly sense)
Erick is standing next to his impressive car and she almost swoons. he looks hot. she couldn't see his entire frame due to the counter but now she can. his shirt is rolled up, showcasing some slim but muscular forearms and his shirt is slightly tight, suggesting there's more muscle on his torso.
"are you just gonna keep staring or...?" he smirks playfully at her. Electricity crackles around them as she sits next to him in his car and they drive off.
At the restaurant, one of Erick favourites, they eat and make comfortable conversation....until Erick asks her about Bonfire Night.
"what happened? i mean...don't tell me if you're not comfortable with it but..are you okay?" he says leaning back in his chair to give her space.
she gulps visibly and then seemingly shakes it off.
"maybe later" Erick senses the discomfort in her voice and changes the subject. he knows how hard it is...falling down into a void and trying to get back on track. moreover, just talking about those horrific experiences is hard.
at the end of the meal, she takes out a few pills from a box in her purse and swallows them with water. PTSD and antidepressants, he notes but does not question her about it.
at the end of the date, she is seemingly in a hurry and thanks him for a date. Erick gives her his number and tells her that she can call him anytime. it's clear he's intrigued by her and she is as well by him. she smiles and with a bout of courage, kisses his cheek. they both look a bit taken aback but nonetheless, say their goodbyes.
they both walk in separate directions, hearts thumping and palms sweating.
one has never met anything like the other.
Naomi sighs.
her family is right. she needs to break free.
She takes a deep breath and sends a text on her phone.N; hey, Erick this is Naomi. can we meet up again sometime?
These expectations, they keep weighing me down
My heart is begging me to get the hell out
Of my head
I'm gonna live inside the upside down
For a minute and pretend
