The next day, (Y/N) floated down the halls, not really wanting to put the effort into navigating around the people in the crowd making their way through the hall.
Well, not really a crowd per se.
To be honest there were just a few people scattered here and there. The spirit just wanted to be lazy and didn't feel like walking.
With every step, or at least the floating equivalent of it, she approached the art room and meticulously pictured her own world to use for the rumor. As a matter of fact, a small huddle of students were discussing The Creation Myth's rumor, so she stopped to listen if there was anything new since yesterday.
"So she'll make any world for you?" asked one of the guys. The question seemed to be directed towards a girl with light brown pigtails that were tied up with soft pink ribbons.
"No Saki-nii, with you! The whole thing is she helps you create your world. You have to have a good idea of it first, and if you're creative just like her then she'll want to join you. That's such a cool rumor, right?" Her bright green eyes sparkled in wonder while the girl next to her scoffed.
"Moki-chan, you can't expect Saki-nii to really believe all that crap. Why bother?" She was very aloof, and was nearly identical to the girl she had just insulted, except with a ponytail pulled back with a simple hair tie. Looks like another set of twins, (Y/N) thought, interesting.
"Hoshiko-kun, you might wanna do something about your sisters before they get into a catfight," the other guy suggested. The females both turned their vicious eyes towards him, and he wisely raised his hands in defeat as a bead of sweat traced its way down his face. (Y/N) recognized the first guy's name, and decided to float over, hovering over his sisters and getting a better look at him. Hoshiko wore the school uniform, a white shirt, black pants, and black shoes, and his name tag that read Amisaki Hoshiko ; High School Division, First Year. He had the same piercing green eyes as the twins, and she noticed the three of them had the same curly light brown hair, though his was longer than most guys' and bleached at the ends. He wore it in a bun. She looked at his sisters. The one with the ponytail was Yasuki Hoshiko, and the one with the pigtails was Momoki Hoshiko, both in their third year of the middle school division. She turned her attention back to Amisaki.
The two girls continued their bickering and the other guy, who she guessed was Amisaki's friend, looked on awkwardly. Amisaki carefully stole glances above his sister's head. (Y/N) looked at him curiously, because each glace he took seemed to be directly at her. Can he see me? she wondered, so she slowly bent over as she hovered over the two girls. She reached out to him to poke his forehead, but he just kept glancing to the same spot above his sibling's head.
"Hey, Suki-chan, I think you got something in your hair," he said. The girl turned to him, running her hands over her hair and ponytail to brush anything out. A small white fuzz made its way to the ground while the girl thanked her brother. Despite the spirit's uncertainness moving forward, she made the tip of her finger physical and proceeded to poke the student's face once. She whipped her hand back just in time to avoid his swipe. Amisaki didn't seem to be glancing her way anymore, but she finally realized where she knew his name from. He was one of those sleeping kids from the other week in Tsu's class.
After carefully observing the group for a few minutes, she decided she had no more time to watch. The ghost turned on her heel and rushed on to the art room, deciding she had wasted enough time on her observations. The hakujoudai she had kept with her warbled impatiently, and she made a dismissive gesture with her hand.
"I still have time, don't give me that. Everything will be fine." The blue-circled orb gave an agitated trill, making the spirit sigh and increase the speed of her already hasty journey while giving it a nasty side-eye. "Happy?" she asked it. A lighter sound like muffled, tinkling bells came through, and she scowled.
"No need to be so sarcastic. Now, zip it," the girl told it, pushing it back with the palm of her hand, "I need to concentrate." (Y/N) opened the door with confidence, breathing in the scent of dried paint, baked clay, and freshly cut or carved wooden projects. She flicked on the lights, seeing that the room was pristine. The almost operating-room-like cleanliness often made her wonder if any art was really created in here, but right now that didn't concern her. The clock at the back wall read 5:26, and to the left she saw the infamous flickering light. No amount of replacement bulbs had ever been able to fix it, even before the art room had become possessed. She walked up to it, just out from under it, and brought the world she had been imagining back to the forefront of her mind. Every second she had left was spent putting the whole thing into clarity, but she had seen it a million times over. The spirit had been practicing for the moment for years, and she had been careful to ensure that the myth's rumor hadn't changed too much.
She had spent a while changing the rumor of The Creation Myth and tailoring it for this exact moment. The spirit, with all the spare time that death brings on her hands, had ended up crafting this rumor from scratch. It had become that when an individual imagines their own world vividly while walking under the flickering art room light exactly when the 5:30 announcement begins, a spirit will see it in the light she shines down. Her life was full of creation, and so if your world is interesting to her, she will make it a reality for you, for a little while. The myth will walk beside you in the world of your imagination and build it alongside you. Once you're done, you can choose to live in that world as whoever you please then be returned to reality when your role is over exactly as you were before your world was created. However, if you reject it and return to reality, she will forever offer you protection in the school. Honestly, (Y/N) was rather proud of this, and her brilliant plan to bring her fellow spirit to her side. She shook away pride from her mind just in time to reimagine her world.
The 5:30 announcement had just begun to ring out, and the girl took a step into the light.

Well, here you all are, Chapter 13! Took me forever to write this, I have no excuses, I was just being lazy and detailing more parts that come later on rather than focusing on the now, y'know? Anyways, I found out recently that getting the software to edit and record video and audio is much easier than I thought, and that my laptop is capable of handling that kinda stuff. So I may or may not start a gaming channel on YouTube, because I think that would just be cool to do, and I have way too much time on my hands (despite not updating this as frequently, I apologize). But aside from all that, let me know what you guys think! Next chapter may be late too since I'm visiting my aunt at her new house soon.
See you all next time!
