Adam's POV
The cold tile floor provided little comfort as I laid my head in my hands. After hours of crying my tears had run dry. My mother had come and was dealing with the paper work, I was psycally incapable. For the first time since we arrived I lifted my head, looking around at everyone moving about their life. My world was falling apart and no one even knows. The love of my life is fighting to stay alive, but no one else is effected. And the baby, God only knows what happened to our child. The police came and asked us questions about everything that happened, conformed the fact that Hannah killed Bobby in self defense. Doctors have came and went, but none to give me news of Hannah. Minutes turns to hours as I begin to pace the waiting room floor. Staring at the door I pray for someone to come tell us something. After what felt like eternity a doctor aproaches us. "Family of Hannah Rose?" I nod, unable to speak, fearing the worst. "We have her stable," I take a deep breath of relife and almost fall over, my mother by my side rubbing my arm. "But there were a few complications. I am afraid we weren't able to save the child." My heart once again stops, "She..she lost the baby?" I ask a little shaken. He sighs and starts explaining how the knife had penetrated in a particular spot and it was impossible to save the baby. Tears fill my eyes as I nod, clearing my throat. "How..how is she? Can I see her?" I ask after I run my fingers down my face. He agrees and leads me down the long hallway, my heart rate speeding up in anticiapation. Once at the glass doorway to her room I instantly feel the sting in my eyes. There she was, black and blue once again. Her beautiful face now covered in cuts and bruises, traveling down to her neck. The hospital gown covered the rest. Her hand laid ontop of her stomach as she slept, almost as if she was protecting the child that was no longer there. "D-Does she know?" I ask in a whisper. The doctor shakes his head, "She was only conscious for a moment after surgery. If you would like I can talk to her when she wakes up." I turn to him and look up, taking a deep breath. "No, it's better if she hears it from me." He places a hand on my shoulder, "Take your time." I nod before sliding open the glass door, quietly walking across the room. Sitting in the chair next to the bed I pull her hand in mine, laying it against my tear stained cheek. I remember the last time she was in here, she said she could hear my singing. Taking a shaky breath I begin to hum, the ballad I had been messing with the last few days instantly had lyrics when I looked into her eyes. "I don't mind spending every day, out on your corner in the pouring rain, oh. Look for the girl with the broken smile, ask her if she wants to stay awhile. And she will be loved." My voice cracks a little as I sing the last part, kissing her hand. "I'm so sorry." I break down, laying my head on the bed next to her, "I'm so sorry I wasn't there to protect you. This is all my fault." Once again the tears flow as I hold her hand. Her steady breathing provided me comfort as I look back up, running my across her cheek, pushing her hair behind her ear. Kissing her head I pull out my phone, texting with my free hand while the other rubs circles on the back of her hand. I tell everyone she is stable, only telling my mom about the baby. Everyone sends their well wishes, my mom telling me she is here to help however she can. Putting my phone up I look back down at my beautiful girl. Silently I make a promise to myself, never going to let anything happen to her ever again.
