Hannah's POVI could tell by his facial expression he was upset, and deep down part of me wanted to comfort him. My eyebrows knit together further in confusion, who was this perfect stranger and what was he doing here? His deep hazel eyes brought me peace and serenity in the midst of the madness, and my heart longed for more of his attention and affection. But my brain knew that if Bobby found us like this he would kill us both. Quickly I untangled myself from him, careful not to pull the iv in my hand. "The doctor will be in a minute." The nurse spoke quickly before exiting the room, although I was not sure who she was speaking to. "Hannah," His voice was a whisper, how did he know my name? "Sweetie, it's me, it's Adam." The words came out as a question, as if I was already suposed to know the answer. Well at least now I have a name to go with his beautiful face. I shake my head lightly, pulling away as he reaches a hand out to touch my cheek. My mouth opens to answer but I cut off before I could even speak by the doctor walking in the room, "Well, look whos awake." He smiles as he flips through my chart. Pulling a stool to the bedside he grabs out a pen with a light on it, "Follow this with your eyes only please." I do as he says, trying my best to sit still as Adam grabs my hand and holds it tenderly. "Can you tell me your name?" He asks as he goes back to filling out the chart. "Hannah Rose." I answer quickly, still confused about what's going on. "Do you know what todays date is?" I shrug and bite my lip, "June 3rd?" I ask questioningly, pretty sure that was the date. He frowns and fills out another line, "Miss. Rose it is March 17th." I bite my lip and look down, this wasn't the first time I woke up in the hospital confused, and knowing Bobby, it wouldn't be the last. "Oh.." Was my only reply. The doctor continues to ask me more questions before asking one that makes my heart monitor go crazy, "Miss. Rose, do you know why you are here?" My heart beats harder and faster as I quickly shake my head, "I must have over dosed again." Quickly I look around to make sure Bobby wasn't here, he would be mad if I told him this was from him. "Hannah, you have suffered a sever head injury. Now, with this case it seems as if your memory has been affected. What is the last thing you remember?" I look down at my hands, wondering how I should answer. "I..I was at work...and Alexis and me took a break to go shoot up in the bathroom." I answer quickly, making sure not to make eye contact with anyone in the room.
Adam's POV
To hear her speak of her past broke my heart for two reasons. The first being that she had to go through that in the first place, the second being that she didn't remember me at all. I stand up and walk to the door, looking back at her one more time while the doctor asked her some more questions. Her eyes looked hurt and sad but quickly composed into a neutral expression. I sigh before walking into the hallway, not knowing what to do. It's like I didn't even exist to her. She didn't remember anything of our time together. After about half a hour the doctor leaves her side and comes to mine, sitting next to me in the row of plastic chairs. "Her memory is hazey, it's almost as if the last 8 months didn't happen to her. I want to keep her here for a bit longer for observation but I would recomend bringing her some personal affects, it might help get her brain jogging." He continued to inform me of her condition before explaining that it is best not to overwhelm her. "So should I tell her why she is really here?" He looks across the hall and folds his arms, "Well I suppose she would be curious, but try and keep it as minimal as possible." I nod before running my fingers down my face. His hand clasps on my shoulder, "Don't worry son, she's a strong one. It is possible that she could come back, just like that." He snaps to punctuate his sentance. I nod and take a deep breath, "God I hope so."
Hannah's POV
Laying in the stiff hospital bed I gaze out the window, smiling as I see a mother and child playing in the park across the street. My hand begins to rub my stomach absentmindedly before I notice it. Quickly I pull my hand away, not knowing where that came from. A knock at the door causes me to look up, seeing that handsome man again. "Can I come in?" I hesitate for a minute before nodding, knowing that there must be some reason he keeps hanging around. He smiles weakly before grabbing the chair the doctor had been sitting in and pulling up to my bed. "How are you feeling?" He asks in a small voice, I could tell that's not what he wanted to ask. "I am alright, just sore and confused." He nods and reaches his hand out to hold mine before quickly pulling it back. "Hannah..." The whisper of his voice was enough to send chills down my spine. "Can I show you some pictures?" Gone was the shyness, his tone was more playful now. I smile and nod, not knowing exactly what but something was drawing me to this man. His hand reaches into his pocket before pulling out his phone. His fingers tap on the screen quickly to unlock it, the numbers for his lock matching the date of my birth. I can tell the confusion is plastered on my face but I chose to shrug it off, wanting to know what he was going to say next. He clicks on the gallery button before scrolling through the tons of pictures. The first one he clicked on was of a adorable golden retriever, "She is precious." I smile, always have wanting a golden retriever. He just studies my face as he scrolls through the pictures of her. "She's a huge baby." He smiles weakly before scrolling through more pictures, showing me one where the dog was cuddled up in the lap of a woman. She looked like a sweet lady, her grey hair and glasses giving her the warm grandmother look. "This is my mother." He looks up at me again, I could tell he was searching for something. "What's her name?" I ask looking closely at the picture. He sighs lightly, "Her name is Patsy." I could tell he was upset about something but didn't want to push him for information. His finger keeps scrolling and I see tons of pictures of his friends and family, lots of the dogs, then one shocks me. It was a picture of me and him kissing. There were fireworks shooting in the background and our embrace was one of pure love. My mouth slacks open as I stare at it, my hand reaching out to hold the phone. "Is that...is that us?" He nods and his eyes turn hopeful. "But Bobby..." My voice is a whisper as I begin to panic, my eyes going wide. His hand gently comes to my face, "I don't know how else to say this but then to just tell you the whole story." I nod as he pushes a strand of hair behind my ear before he begins to tell me a long elaborate story, explaining how he saved me from Bobby then of our relationship before finally telling me of the most recent events. My eyes brimmed with tears as I listened carefully to each word. Once he was finished my cheeks were now stained with salty tears.
Adam's POV
I had broken down a few times myself while telling her everything, neglecting to acknowlge the part of our child, but her tears brought a knot to my throat. I quickly wipe them away before kissing her forehead, "I know this is all very overwhelming for you." She nods, closing her eyes and not saying anything. "Is there anything I can do?" I ask hopefully, wanting to ease her pain. Her eyes open again slowly as she looks into mine, "Can I see more pictures?" Her bottom lip quivered as it always does when she's nervous. I smile and nod, pulling out my phone again before handing it to her, unlocking it and letting her scroll through the pictures. With each one her smile grows slightly. Maybe we will be ok after all...until I mention the child we have lost.
