I pulled Alec toward the Ferris Wheel and felt his grip tighten on my hand when we got into our seats.
When we were halfway up, I stood up- holding onto the roof- and looked out at the park that was lit up with lights since it was 10pm. I felt Alec tug on my shirt and I glanced down at him then did a double take. He was sitting straight up with one of his hands on his knee, clutching at his pants. "Sit down!" He said, his voice strained. "Are you okay?" I asked and he looked up at me. "Yes yes! Fine!" He blurted, but I noticed that he was shaking and I sat down. Alec looked down when I lifted an eyebrow. "Actually- I'm afraid of heights," he admitted and I had to stop myself from laughing.... When suddenly the Ferris Wheel stopped and its lights went out.
I looked over the edge to see that we were stuck up on the very top. "Xavier?!" Alec cried and hugged me tightly as our cart shook. "It's alright, I'm here." I said with a small chuckle. "This isn't funny!" Alec yelled in a shrill voice and I laughed. A loud voice sounded that came from the ground. "Sorry for this inconvenience, we are having some technical difficulties," the voice said.
"Technical difficulties?!" Alec yelled in a shrill voice and hugged me tighter, nearly in tears. I felt so bad for him, and it was my idea to get on here. The cart swayed again and Alec screamed. It was taking all the self control I had in me not to burst out laughing.
He started hyperventilating after a while and I rubbed his back. "Breathe man," I said and kissed his cheek.
Suddenly the carts started moving- at a considerable fast pace- but the lights hadn't turned on. "Why is it moving?!" Alec asked, his voice still high pitched. "It shouldn't be moving," I muttered, intending for Alec not to hear... but he did. "WHAT!" He yelled and gripped my shirt.
I looked out and noticed that we were halfway around and still going. "It's not going to stop and people are already hoping off on their own," I said and Alec looked up at me. I let go of Alec and stood up then opened the door and took Alec's hand as we neared the bottom. He stood, shakily and as we hit the bottom, I hoped off with Alec behind me. He collided into my back and hugged my arm tightly, shaking like a leaf in the wind. "I am never going on anything high with you again," he snapped and I laughed and led him away.
