I looked up from my drawing after hearing a grunt and someone crying. "Just leave me alone!" A boy cried and I stood, narrowing my eyes at the four boys. The one on the ground was crying- had to be at least in 8th grade and had long black hair that was dyed purple half way down and tied into a long braid and he had beautiful valentine pink eyes that looked like they could shine forever and that definitely didn't match his skin color which was a brown. The boys that were bulling him looked to be from 9th or 10th grade and they were all laughing at the boy under them. "What a pathetic little slut," a boy laughed and I scowled, my lip lifting up. "OI!" I called, storming over. The main bully looked over and narrowed his eyes, his laughing coming to a end. "What are you doing here nerd, just go back to-" I interrupted him by sending a strong right hook to the right side of his face, making him stumble backwards and his hand to fly to his face.
"Fuck! I recognize this kid!"
"Isn't he in one of those strong gangs?"
"I wonder what his body count is."
I ignored what the two behind the bully said and positioned myself so I was standing in front of the boy on the ground. I turned and helped him up. "T-Thanks..." He stuttered and I gave him a small smile then turned back to the guy who was still staring at me stunned. I noticed an Alpha mark on his cheek and reared back. Fuck, I didn't see that before. He chuckled. "You know you should never challenge an Alpha then run from them, its cowardly." The Alpha said with a sneer and I rolled my eyes. Might as well.
20 minutes later and I'm standing over the Alpha with bloody knuckles and panting. "Don't ever bully anyone every again or you better watch you're back." I huffed and the former Alpha scrambled to his feet then ran, his buddies already ditching him. I wiped my hands off on my shorts and straightened. I turned to the kid- well technically I was the kid since I'm in 6th grade- and he hurried over to me, checking my knuckles. "Are you okay?!" He blurted out worriedly and I chuckled. "I'm fine, but are you?" I asked him and he looked up letting me get a good view on the purple bruise around his left eye and his bloody lip. "Y-yeah, just a bit worn. I'm Alec by the way!" He said, his mood changing to cheerful in an instant. I smiled. "Xavier." I said.
Later that day- as I was walking home- he ran up to me with a scared expression, a new black eye and a cut cheek, tears ran down his cheeks. "Xavier!" He cried as he ran up and barreled into my arms. He hugged me tightly and I returned it quickly. "Hey hey, what's wrong?" I asked, rubbing his back and resting my chin on his head. "M-my d-dad, h-he-" He gripped my shirt and just broke down. I soothed him as best as I could. "H-He- He hit my mom again," Alec said when he finally calmed down enough to let those words past his lips. I took in a sharp breath and narrowed my eyes at the direction he had come from. "It's alright, I won't let him do anything to you- I promise," I promised, dedicating my soul to this boy who I just meant today. "You can stay at my house for now," I offered and he looked up at me. I gave him a soft smile and wiped his tears, causing his cheeks to turn as pink as his eyes. "W-what about my mom?" He asked and I chuckled darkly. "I can get my boss to help out." He raised an eyebrow. "W-what do you m-mean?" He asked and I huffed. "Need to know basis, come on." I said and started leading him back to my house.
