"Max are you almost done!?" I whine into my phone. Well... my car.
"God, shut the fuck up!" Max said, his voice filling the car through my speaker system. I look up and peer into the café, he's smiling back at me.
"Well hurry up! I want to go home!" I whine. "You were supposed to get off of work an hour agoooooo..."
"I know! I wasn't supposed to work open-to-close, but Avery called in sick, so I had to cover for her." He mumbles.
I roll my eyes.
"You're such a doormat." I say.
His gaze jumps to mine and I smirk from my car.
"Fuck you."
"Anytime Luv." I say and my smirk grows.
I hear him groan and roll his eyes as he finishes cleaning up.
"Hurry up!" I whine again.
"Jesus I'm almost done." He grumbles, shooting me a dirty look through the window.
I watch as he finishes wiping down the tables and steps out of the café. He locks up and turns to me.
"Alright I'm hanging up now." He says with a smile as he opens my car door.
"Hey Max..." I say in a deep, sexy tone.
He flinches and his smile drops.
"Oh sorry... I didn't mean to-"
"You're fine." He mumbles as he slides into the seat next to me. He buckles his seat belt and looks over at me. "You're staring." He states.
"Oh..." I say and drop my gaze to the gearshift.
"Look Casey." He says as a small smile tugs at his lips. "You're the one that wanted to go, so let's go. My sisters have been home alone all day and I really wanna get there BEFORE they burn the house down."
"Yeah, yeah." I say, smirking back at him as I pull out of the parking spot and onto the street.
We drive quietly to Kimberly's house. Every once in a while, I look over at Max. His eyes don't move, fixed out of the window and staring at the lights as they pass by.
Eventually the quiet gets to be too much for me.
"So... who was that guy that asked you out today?" I ask, trying to hide my jealousy.
"Oh uh... it isn't a date." Max says, still not looking at me.
"Mhm... well what is it then and who is he?" I ask.
"Um ok even my sisters don't ask that many questions." He says and I glance over at him. Finally, he's torn his eyes away from outside and he's smiling at me.
I remain quiet, smiling slightly back, hoping he'll tell me.
"FINE!" He says with a groan. "His name is Adrian Silvers and I guess technically he's my boss."
"Wait Adrian Silvers? The son of Jamison Silvers??" I demand.
"Yeah..."
"What did he want with you??" I ask.
Jamison Silvers is a billionaire and owner of a shit ton of things. Restaurants, super malls, cafes, car dealerships. He's got his fingers in nearly every pie and yeah... Max works in one of their cafes.
"He asked if I wanted to try out that new restaurant across town. And yeah, I guess he flirted with me a little bit..." He says.
I look up at him surprised.
