"I was just calling you to tell you that I'm bouta go over to your house to do your sister's hair." Christy said.
"Okay. And..."
"Boy you told me to call you and tell you yesterday." She said.
"Mhmm..."
"Mhm what?" Christy asked.
"Who is Fred?" Jason asked.
Christy gave a short pause. "Umm... What are you talking about?" She asked.
"You tell me. I found his number on your phone."
"Omg..."
"WHO'S FRED!?"
"Boy don't yell at me. Idk who the hell Fred is."
"Are you lying?" Jason asked.
Christy scoffed. "What I gotta lie for?"
"Can you hold me?" Jason said.
Christy laughed. "Omg you're so dumb."
"Thanks for calling me and telling me bae. This is why I love you. I love you because you're loyal."
"Whatever, your dad's coming to pick me up."
"Okay bae. Can I ask you a question?" Said Jason.
"Yes." She said.
"Bae wassup with your dad?" Jason asked.
"What you mean?" Christy replied.
"How come you don't ever talk about him?" Jason said.
"I only know that his name is Frank, but that's all I know." Jason added.
"Well what else do you wanna know?" Christy asked.
"How come you don't like talking about him?"
Christy paused for a minute. She didn't like talking about his father because he's a dead beat. He was the first boy to break her heart. Jason was the last person that she wanted to talk to about Frank. Christy loved and cherished her father, and he knows that. After all that, he just walked out of her life and forsook her. Christy sometimes wishes that Frank will return and be with her like he used to, but she knew that will never happen. Things were never going to be the same between her and Frank.
"There's nothing really to talk about." She said.
"He was here and now he's gone." She said.
"Well why did he leave?" Jason asked.
Tears began to well up in Christy's eyes without her realizing it.
"Because he doesn't love me." She said and began weeping.
Jason didn't know what to say. He knew that he had pressed on a really sensitive subject which made Christy very emotional. He did not want to press no more.
"Call me when you're ready to leave." He said instead.
Christy didn't say nothing. She just hung up. Jason knew exactly what to do. As soon as he hung up he then called his dad.
"Yes Jason, I am going to pick up Christy now." Mohamed answered and said.
"Oldhead real quick. I bought up a subject that made Christy really uncomfortable. Take her to Dunkin' Donuts or something and console her." He said.
Mohamed didn't ask no questions. He knew exactly what Jason meant.
"Do not worry son." Mohamed said then he hung up.
Mohamed then stepped on the gas and sped to Christy's house. When he arrived he parked near the sidewalk and blew his horn twice.
Christy heard the horn blow, as soon as she did she put on her shoes, about a half minute later she stepped out the door. She saw Mohamed's black Sedan parked near the sidewalk, she approached it. She then opened the passenger seat and stepped inside,
"Hello Mr. Mohamed." She said as she sat down.
"Christy... hello." Mohamed replied. He closed the passenger door for her.
He could see the dried up tears that were on her face. He didn't say nothing, he knew exactly what to do.
Mohamed started the car and he made a few turns, a few minutes later they were outside Dunkin Donuts. Christy didn't ask no questions, even though she didn't know why they had come here. She just stepped out the car and followed Mohamed as he went in the shop.
Once they got inside Mohamed ordered a small coffee for himself then he asked Christy what she wanted.
"Medium iced coffee with Munchkins." She said.
Mohamed ordered.
