Luke sat in his bed and held Laurie tightly to his chest, rubbing soft circles on her arms. Her breathing was slow and gentle, and every once in a while their breaths would syncronize and Luke would take in the feeling of connection with the small girl.
He sighed to himself. Though the two of them had become extremely close and he knew - or was convinced at least - that Laurie had feelings for him, he couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with guilt. Laurie had been completely open and honest with him, and he had definitely been less than truthful.
Luke really did like Laurie a lot - heck, he was contemplating calling it more than that - that was completely real, but he hadn't been himself, and he had done something while their relationship had began budding that he was afraid was unforgivable.
It boiled inside of him and grew and grew and grew, and as Laurie placed more and more trust in him, he felt the guilt chip away at him a little more.
When Luke was certain that Laurie was asleep he slipped his body from underneath hers and stood up. He brought the blankets up over her tiny frame and tucked her in tightly, then placed a small kiss on her forehead before leaving the room.
He made the same trip nightly, but it never got any easier. He knew that what he was doing was terrible, but he also knew that he had to do it. He wanted Laurie to feel toward him exactly what he had felt toward her, and this was the catalyst of their romance.
Luke was terribly conflicted. It was so bad, and yet its results were so good. It was undeniably unforgivable, but he felt that all was forgiven when he held Laurie in his arms without resist. It couldn't have pained him more, but it couldn't have caused any more bliss than it did. It was an awfully grand thing and Luke hated that he loved it.
He walked down the hallway slowly and creeped down the stairs, making sure each step would be silent before placing it. He had decided that night that he would fix things soon, but he wasn't sure how, and his heart raced wildly at what Laurie would have to say about it.
He hoped that she would understand. He wasn't thinking rationally when he did it and things had spun out of control quickly, and before he knew it, he had committed one of the most horrific acts he could imagine himself doing. But he thanked it.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before reaching his hand out and pushing the large object to the side for what he hoped would be one of the last times.

Laurie was shaken from her sleep by the sound of Luke's door shutting and she yawned. The scent of the tall blonde stuck to the sheets and surrounded her, and she curled up in them before sitting up in his bed. She felt around the bed for his warmth, but finding no one, she stood up to investigate.
She stepped quietly out of the room and made her way to the staircase before hearing a slight shuffling below. She ducked down and saw Luke standing in front of the bookcase which she vividly remembered being rescued from.
She watched, paralyzed by the horror of it all, as Luke moved the bookcase to the side, slipped in, and shut it.
No. No no no.
Laurie ran back to Luke's bedroom and laid down, too consumed by thought to stand any longer. He captured another girl? Her face burned and her blood boiled. She couldn't believe Luke would dare take another girl, especially with her still there.
Couldn't he see that it was awful? Not to mention it was illegal! Tears forced themselves into Laurie's eyes but she pushed them back.
She had hoped that maybe she had tamed the beast in Luke and convinced him that this wasn't the right thing to do anymore - or ever for that matter! - but as the image of Luke creeping into the captive room played over and over in her mind, she was convinced otherwise.
