Chapter 26

I hastily and roughly pulled Rae into the room slamming and locking the door behind her. “WHAT THE HELL DID HE DO TO YOU?” I screamed. Niall ran and got some wipes out of my backpack and wiped Rae’s hands off. Rae was sobbing and last night’s makeup was running down her face. “I told Liam this morning.” She said struggling to get words out because she was crying so hard.

“I’M GOING TO KILL HIM!” I screamed. Anger was flowing through every ounce of blood in my body. Niall sat Rae down on the bed while both he and I put on clothes. “Jesse!” She screamed. “Why the hell would he hurt you?” I screamed back at her. I angrily paced around the room

“JESSE FUCKING STOP AND LISTEN TO ME!” I stopped dead in my spot and sat next to Rae. “I lost the baby!” I think my heart literally stopped when she spoke those words. “I told Liam and he was so happy. He said that he always wanted to be a father. Then I felt something bad going on in my body. I thought it was just me feeling sick but then I knew something was terribly wrong.” She was sobbing even harder. I felt myself beginning to calm down knowing that Rae wasn’t physically hurt but mentally I knew she wasn’t so great.

“I ran into the bathroom and I was bleeding which means I lost the baby. That’s why I had blood all over my hand.” Rae said. I was getting sick to my stomach. Niall sat next to Rae and comforted her by giving her a hug and rubbing her back. She moved to the head of the bed and curled up under the covers. “Why was Liam holding a knife in the kitchen?” I asked.

“He’s making salad for lunch and he was cutting carrots when I ran back here to get you and he doesn’t know about the baby yet.”

There was a pounding on the door. “Hey its Liam and Avery can we come in?” I got up and opened the door for them. Avery was panicking and Liam looked sick when he saw Rae crunched up under the covers. Liam ran towards Rae when I moved. “What’s going on honey?” Liam laid down on top of the blanket and wrapped his arms around Rae to comfort her. “Liam.” She cried out into his chest.

“Avery go get a cup of water.” I told him. He ran into the kitchen stumbling because of the moving bus and because of his leg. He got the cup and ran back and gave it to Rae. She took it and drank the whole thing in one long drink. Rae curled up even tighter into Liam and was starting to fall asleep.

“Rae do you want us to leave you alone for a little while?” I asked. She nodded her head no. “Do you want me to tell him what’s going on?” I asked. She didn’t move. Finally she mumbled. “Tell him.” Oh I don’t know how Liam’s going to react to this. 

“Liam. Rae lost the baby.” I said. Immediately tears were falling from his eyes. That was something I haven’t seen in a long time. Both Liam and Rae were laying together in mine and Niall’s bed balling their eyes out. I can’t really say anything about it considering the current events but I think they need to be alone. I got up and walked over to Rae. “Baby I am so sorry.” I said. I grabbed Niall’s grey sweat pants off the floor and everyone left the room except for Liam and Rae.

I slipped the pants on in the kitchen and sure enough there were carrots on the counter next to a bowl of finally chopped lettuce leaves. Jay was still driving the bus. I made him a plate of salad and took it to him. He wouldn’t take it. He said that he wasn’t hungry because he was snacking. I ended up eating the plate. I walked back into the sort of living room place next to the kitchen and Niall was stretched out across the couch in his underwear with his clothes on the floor. He is really paranoid about this clothes thing.  He was also watching my favorite movie “Divergent”. Most importantly he was watching it without me. “Excuse me why are you watching this without me?” I jokingly threatened.

“Lovely! Come watch it with me.” He sat up and scooted over giving me a place to sit. I sat next to him. I curled up in his arms and laid my head on his chest.

When I woke up it was already dark again. I rolled over expecting to find a blonde blue eyed Irish boy but instead I found a red haired green eyed best friend sound asleep. When Rae and I were kids we would spend the night at each other’s house and we would have to sleep in the same bed. One time I kicked her off the bed in my sleep and I didn’t even know until I woke up the next morning and she was laying on the floor. I flipped back the covers carefully trying not to disturb her and I noticed that my shirt was on the floor and not on me. Niall must have carried me to bed. I threw on my shirt and grabbed my phone off the nightstand and left the bedroom. Avery was in his bed playing Minecraft on the MacBook Niall gave me.

“Hey jess how are you?” he asked. I nodded. “I’m ok. Thanks for asking.” He returned to his game. I walked a little further into the kitchen where Niall and Liam were sitting both on their phones. “How’s she do in there?” Liam asked looking up from his phone. He was playing Minecraft too. Niall scooted over so I’d have a place to sit. “She’s asleep.” I told him. I glanced at Niall’s phone to see that he was playing Minecraft as well. “Evening lovely you want to join our game?” Niall asked. I guess they were playing together. “Yeah I guess I’ll play for a little while.” I used the touch ID to unlock my phone and then I opened the Minecraft app. A game popped up it was called ‘thenialler’. When Niall realized that I saw the game he laughed. “You like?”

I joined the game and we sat together at the table for a couple of hours all working on building a mansion and fighting the creepers and zombies. At around 10:45 Rae came out of the bedroom. I dropped my phone on the table and ran to her. She started crying into my shoulder again. I wrapped her up into my arms and walked her over to the couch. Liam sat on the other side of her running his fingers through her hair and rubbing her back. “It’s gonna be ok baby. Just let it all out.” I told her. She continued to cry.

“I wanted that baby so bad!”

“I know darling. Liam did too.” I said. The bus wobbled and I could see colored lights coming from the window. Jay started to play Taylor Swift’s new song ‘Welcome to New York’ over the P.A. system.

“Everybody get up! Welcome to New York City!” He screamed.
