Chapter 23

I have major writers block. So I'm just gonna skip to her getting back home.

Kaila's POV

My month in New York was good. I totally missed home. I changed a lot. I cut my hair, a bob with a flipped bang. I even made sure to get my nails done and my body waxed. I talked to Dre the whole time I was gone and he had been keeping me updated. There's a party tonight and everybody's going to be there. I didn't let anybody know I was back. I just caught a cab to Dre's place.

When I arrived, I knocked on the door and he opened it not too long after. "Hi Dre." I smiled and waved. "Kai! Come in!" He swallowed me in a hug. "How have you been?" He smiled. He was so happy. "I've missed y'all. But I did need to get away. We gotta catch up." I smiled. "King's out, he fucked up AJ when he found out. AJ took it like a man. Lauren and I are trying to work things out between us.. Oh Anita has gotten a boyfriend. I'm cool with him. Everybody is good. But, we still trying to get Shad." My smile turned to a frown. I just shook my head. "What time is this party?" I asked before going up the stairs. "8. Oh and its black and gold themed. " he said and disappeared into his room. I went into my room and it hadn't been touched. I already knew what I wanted to wear I just wanted to shower and eat before I get there. I walked in the bathroom and stripped out of my clothes I grabbed my speaker and hooked my phone to it. I pressed shuffle and let I Don't Mind blast. I turned on the shower and grabbed a new washcloth. I stepped in and immediately started to wash. "And as soon as you shake it, I know they gone make it colossal in here." I sung along. I rinsed off and turned the shower off. I put on my black underwear, I put on deodorant, a t-shirt, and my sweats. I made my way downstairs to the kitchen. As I made my way into the kitchen, Dre made his way out of his room. I opened the refrigerator and grabbed the carton of juice, poured myself a glass, and drank from it. "You hungry Kai?" Dre asked leaning on the wall. "Yeah." I said putting my cup in the sink. "We can get some burgers and fries." He said pulling my keys out of his pocket. "Let me put on some sandals and I'll be ready. " I spoke. "Go and get em then. I'm hungry as fuck." He smiled. I smiled and hurried up the stairs and slipped on some white flip flops. I jogged down the stairs. "Let's go." I said snatching my keys. We left the condo and he locked the door.

We started to walk down the hallway, and the elevator doors slid open. Out came King, Nino, and Rashawn. King stopped in his tracks and took his shades off. "Kaila, thats you?" He smiled. I ran to him and hugged him tight. "I missed you." I mumbled in his chest. "I missed your jug head ass too." He kissed my forehead. I let him go. "Hey Nino. Hey Rashawn. How y'all doin? " I spoke while hugging them. "No. No. How you been doing? " Rashawn asked looking me up and down. "Good." I giggled. "Auntie been feedin' you good girl." Nino said, King and I laughed. "Where y'all going?" King asked looking at me and Dre. "We were going to get some burgers, then come back and get ready." Dre spoke. "Y'all can come if y'all want. " I looked at the three of them and they nodded. We all walked to the elevator, Nino pressed the button to go down. The doors open and we piled in with a couple others. It was a comfortable silence as we descended to the ground floor. I stepped out first and everybody came behind. "Dre. You riding with me?" I asked pulling my keys out my pocket. "Nah, King could go with you. I know y'all got catching up to do." He said and King threw him the keys. King followed me to my baby, I haven't seen her and driven her in forever. Still had the new car smell too. I got in the driver's seat and King got in the passenger seat. I turned the ignition, turned the radio down, and pulled out of the parking space. "How Aunt Dee and them?" King's ghetto ass asked me. "They're pretty good. They never changed up." I said as I made sure Nino, Dre, and Rashawn were keeping up. King nodded. "What's up with the change? Not that I'm saying anything's wrong with it. Just curious." He looked at me. "I wanted to leave some of the old Kaila behind. I'm still same old Kai. Just a different look, I wanna mix it up. I'm on some new year, new me type of shit. Just cooling it you know? " I said. He laughed. "What about this thing with you and AJ?" He smirked. I knew what he was doing. I wasn't looking forward to that question. "Well, I hadn't talked to him since I landed in New York. I've seen him on Twitter and IG throwing slick shots, but I been shrugging them off. I wouldn't mind seeing him though. I just wanna catch him by surprise though." I smiled and pulled into the parking lot of Red Robin's. I drove around until I found a decent parking space. Dre parked somewhere that wasn't too far. We all got out and headed in for takeout. I knew I was going to be late to the party anyway. "Hi! How may I help you?" The waitress said too excited for my taste. "Um, I just want a regular cheeseburger with fries." I said stuffing my keys in my pocket. The rest ordered the same. In twenty five to thirty minutes, our food was packaged. We seperated our plates and went back to our separate abodes.

I sat at the table and bit in the burger. "Dre. I don't like mine." I mumbled spitting it out. "Gimme your burger and I'll give you my fries." He said taking it out of my hand and dumping his fries in my plate. I got some ranch and went to work.

We had thirty minutes until the party started. We weren't dressed or even close to it. We just sat there talking about everything we were missing for that month. "It's late and we're not dressed." I said getting up and going upstairs. I had already taken a shower so I didn't have to worry about it. I made sure to wipe under my arms to take away the deodorant so it didn't mess up my clothes. I went in my closet to find so many things with tags on them. I knew for a fact that I was going to kill it with my jumpsuit. It was black, it went around the base of my neck and showed little cleavage on the sides, it fit tight and it let my back show. I pulled that off the hanger and laid it across the bed. I walked back into my closet to look at shoes. I found a dusty ass box. I picked it up, a pair of Black Croc-Embossed Leather London Giuseppes. I took off all of my clothes except for my underwear. I didn't have to wear a bra with the jumper so I didn't stress it. I lotioned what I could. I grabbed my towel and put it around me. I walked downstairs to find Dre. "Dre! Come lotion my back please! " I demanded banging on the door. "Okay! Shit!" He swung the door open. "Can you lotion my back please? " I handed him the bottle. I dropped the towel and held it to my chest. "Damn." He mumbled. He put the cold lotion to my upper back slowly, and massaged it in all the way to my upper butt. "Thank You. " I mumbled leaving out of the room and I headed back to my room. I put on the jumper while looking in the mirror to see if I liked it. I found some black socks and slipped them on my feet. I opened the box, the shoes were in plastic with the paper in them and all. I took everything out and put on my shoes. After doing that, I put on clear deodorant and brushed my teeth. I added an elaborate gold bracelet and the different sized rings to my hands. I decided to add red Mac lipstick and find a black clutch. "Kaila! Let's go!" I put what I needed in my clutch and headed downstairs.

"Okay! I'm ready, I'm ready." I said coming down the stairs. "God..." Dre mouthed when he looked at me. "So I look good?" I asked while turning. "Hell yeah. You look more than good." He said smiling. "Thank you. Can you take me a couple of pictures on your phone." I said smiling as I checked his outfit. He wore a black Versace crew neck with the gold Medusa, some fresh black sweatpant joggers, and gold metallic Giuseppe's. "Nice outfit. Look at you tryna be big daddy with the Giuseppe's." I said smiling as we were walking towards the door. "Girl. Get yo ass out the door." He said pushing me out of the door laughing. He locked the door, and we walked down the hallway. The elevator dinged and an older woman got off. She was eyeing the hell out of Dre. We got on the elevator, and I started laughing. "Cougar magnet or nah?" I giggled. "You play too much." He said smiling. I just shook my head now we're headed to this party. I'm too nervous.

AJ's POV

I was at the party of the year with my fam; King, Rashawn, Nino, and the rest. Dre ain't show up yet. "Aye King. Where Dre?" I said sipping on the cup in my hand. I was on my second one. I was in VIP watching everybody dance and have a good time. I seen Dre come in and clap up a few people. He came in with a fine ass date, with expensive taste, and she must have been the baddest I've seen tonight. I looked at King as he came next to me just smiling while watching them. I just shook my head and watched as they came upstairs. "Wassup Y'all?" Dre said as he came and clapped everybody up. Shorty behind him was hugging everybody as if she knew them. "Hey King. You look nice." She said hugging him. "You look good too Kai." He smiled twirling her around. She changed a lot in a month. She got a bigger booty now, she looks vibrant, she looks like a new person. She walked from King and up to me. "Long time, no talk." She looked in my eyes. "How you been Kai?" I said before sipping from the cup. "Great. I know you've been doing excellent?" She smiled and walked off. "Damn." I mumbled watching her walk. I gotta get back with that.
