Chapter Six

I sat at my desk clicking away at my pen , pretending I was listening to the history lesson when really we all know I wasn't. I honestly don't know how I get decent grades when I never listen to anything the teacher has to say. My boredom started to take over more and I continued to search around the room only seeing people with their eyes straight ahead and paying attention to Ms. Schall. Wow people actually listen in class , c'mon like we are thirteen. At this age we should be saying ' whatever' to pretty much everything. Or is that just me ?

Maybe if they actually taught something interesting in school , I wouldn't be sitting here clicking at my pen , looking around the room , getting lost in thought and half falling asleep. Well now I know for nights when I can't sleep just call up my teacher and ask her to give me an un-needed lesson.

Just as I was sitting there letting things flow through my head Mason walked through the classroom door. He looked at me and smiled. We have twenty more minutes until it's break. Finally I'll get to hangout with Mason as my boyfriend and not just the guy that I'm majorly crushing on. I noticed I was smiling like an idiot and probably looked retarded so I quickly wiped it off my face and went back to being emotionless.

My phone buzzed in my desk so I took it out and saw I had a text from Mason.

Mason : What were you smiling about?

I looked at him and couldn't believe he had saw what I did. Well shit I feel like a twit now.

Me : Oh you know , just things :)

His phone went off and I watched as he checked it and smiled.

" Wait he smiled ? " Kate asked. I looked at her very confused.

" Yes , he smiled " I said slowly. Kate looked at me in disbelief and so did esther.

" Okay so you and Amber might be new this year and stuff but I thought you would know something like Mason doesn't smile. Ever . " Well he sure smiled a lot when he was around me. " He's just that type of person that's always depressed and doesn't really smile. Last year he just went completely weird and didn't want to trust anyone or anything then he became , almost like Emo . You know ?"

I knew about him being into that Emo stuff but I didn't think that he was depressed or anything. " He smiles a lot when he's with me , and laughs too "

" Consider yourself lucky then. I know him really well , we used to be best friends , closer than anyone could be then an incident happened and he stopped trusting everyone " Kate said looking down at her plate of food.

Wait could that incident that Kate's talking about be that thing he was gonna say on the bus the other night? I looked over at Esther who just sat there and shrugged. Yeah Esther doesn't really like Mason but she said she would try to get along with him for my sake. " Hey " Mason said sitting next to me.

" Hi " I said then realized how gloomy it sounded. " I mean hi " This time sounding a bit more chipper.

" Still not feeling well ? " He asked. I was gonna tell him I was kinda feeling better but if I tell him that he will question why I said it that way so ....

" Yeah just a bit nauseous " I told him. His eyes softened and he nodded. Finn came over to the table and sat down with Dalton , who just sat there and gave me a blank stare. I sighed and looked down at the table since I didn't have any food.

And just with my luck Seth sat down right across from me so we were face to face and in that moment Mason took his arm and put it around my waist. I think that's a guys signal to another guy ' hey she's mine '. I heard that Mason and Seth used to be really good friends when they were in grade three and four then they had a fight and no they are just sworn enemies.

Then I felt it. My stomach started twisting and an awful taste was in my mouth. I quickly got up and ran into the girls bathroom and sure enough once I got there everything came out of my stomach. I haven't ate today , or yesterday so it was mostly stomach acid. So much for feeling a little bit better. Maybe it's my punishment for lying about not feeling well when I was started to feel okay.

I walked out of the bathroom still feeling dizzy but still tried making my way back to the cafeteria , then I bumped into Esther and Amber. " Oh my god , are you okay ? " Amber asked.

" What happened ? " Esther asked right behind her.

" Nothing just got sick , that's all " I explained then Mason came around the corner.

" Hey you okay ? "

" She's fine " Amber spoke for me.
