We ran across the fields Radaghast distracting the warg scouts. Thought Gandalf we had lost. Kili and I shot at them. and then we heard Gandalf again.
“This way, you fools!”Gandalf shouted and we ran but Kili and I kept shooting.
“Come on, move! Quickly, all of you! Go, go, go!" I heard Thorin shout. “Kili! Elanor! Run!”He cried and we ran back only tto see the orcs being killed by someone else. I plucked an arrow from one of the bodies and handed it to Thorin. “Elves.” He growled in disgust. We followed the path into a beautiful place.
“The Valley of Imraldis. In the Common Tongue, it’s known by a another name.” Gandalf explained.
“Rivendell.”Bilbo and I said in awe together.
“Here lies the last Homely House east of the sea.”Gandalf said and when I looked over to Thorin he looked angry.
“This was your plan all along, to seek refuge with our enemy.”Thorin said to him angrily.
“You have no enemies here, Thorin Oakenshield. The only ill-will to be found in this valley is that which you bring yourself.”
“You think the Elves will give our quest their blessing? They will try to stop us.”
“Of course they will. But we have questions that need to be answered. If we are to be successful, this will need to be handled with tact and respect and no small degree of charm. Which is why you will leave the talking to me.” which we did and then Lord Elrond rode up.
“Gandalf.” Elrond had said and the two conversed. “Welcome Thorin, son of Thrain.”
“I do not believe we have met.”Thorin said.
“You have your grandfather’s bearing. I knew Thror when he ruled under the Mountain.”
“Indeed; he made no mention of you."
“Nartho i noer, toltho i viruvor. Boe i annam vann a nethail vin.” He said in Elvish he was offering us food but how I could understand him was unkown.
“What is he saying? Does he offer us insult?”
“No, master Gloin, he’s offering you food. But first he said you can settle and clean yourselves and Lady Elanor will be taken care of by some of the maidens.” Everyone looked at me and two elven maidens came and led me somewhere else. I looked back at Thorin who looked upset that they were taking me. I was taken to a spring where I bathed and then was stuffed into a blue dress. The maidens braided my hair and showed where dinner was already being held. I walked in and everything went silent.
"I'm very sorry that I'm late my lord." I said and curtseyed to Lord Elrond living with Hobbits all these years taught me well.
"It is okay Lady Elanor, come sit with us." Lord Elrond said and I sat at the small round table with him, Gandalf, and Thorin. He told us of the swords. "What else did you find with these?" He asked and Thorin looked at my necklace.
"Thorin found this and gave it to me." I said and removed the gem. He handed it to Elrond who examined it thoroughly.
"This charm has an ancient magic in it. Those who wear it are protected by this ancient magic." MY eyes widened and Thorin left the table as the necklace was handed back to me. He was standing by a tree and I looked back at him. Then I saw Bofur stand up deciding to sing a tune. I got up and took Thorin's hands.
"What are you doing?" He laughed.
"Dance with me." I replied and as Bofur sang we began to dance.
"There's an inn
there's an inn
there's a merry old inn
beneath an old gray hill.
And there they brew a beer so brown
the Man in the Moon himself came down
one night to drink his fill.
Oh the Ostler has a tipsy cat
that plays a 5 string fiddle.
And up and down he saws his bow
now squeaking high, now purring low.
Now sawing in the middle.
So the cat and the fiddle play
'Hey Diddle Diddle a jig that will wake the dead.'
He squeaked and he sawed
and he quickened the tune
and the landlord shook the Man in the Moon
'It's after 3 he said'"
We all laughed and Thorin and I ccidently fell over dancing so happily.
"Sorry." I said laughing and standing up dusting myself off.
"It's alright that was fun." He said laughing. Dinner was over and I was led back to my room. "Have a good night Elanor." Thorin said and kissed my cheek.
"Thank you goodnight Thorin." I replied and closed the door. I stood on my balcony. I didn't know what I felt for the dwarf but I knew I felt something for him and as I looked out at the moon it seemed as if my necklace was glowing. I kept thinking about what Lord Elrond had said that it had a ancient magic that would protect me and that had made Thorin think and why did he give it to me anyway? Did he really like me as much as I had liked him? I had hoped so.
