~Kihyun~

She's an exchange student so I had to show her around the school. I kept thinking about what she said but I don't have the courage to talk to him. I just can't. I'll just take the chance when it comes.

We continued the project as a whole group but of course, Hyunwoo and I are still awkward with each other.

I keep getting headaches lately, it's happening more frequently than before. Maybe because I'm also tired and sleep-deprived.

We have P.E. today but I think I don't have enough energy to play or exercise. My father beat me up again so I have to wear a hoodie to cover it up on a hot sunny day.

"We are going to play dodge ball. Now get on your teams."

We already have two teams from the start of school so that we can easily remember it and that we can use it for all P.E. activities.

We were playing but my headache comes and go. It doesn't stop. My vision became blurry and then it became black.

We were playing dodgeball, I was about to dodge the ball coming towards me when Kihyun suddenly fainted.

He was right beside me when it happened so I quickly rushed over to him to prevent his head from hitting the solid ground. Our teacher told me to bring him to the clinic.

Usually, our teacher is the one that will bring injured students to the clinic but this time he didn't because I sprained his wrist.

I rushed to the clinic where I gently laid him down on the bed.

"Sir, what happened to him?" I asked the nurse who is on shift.

"He's wearing a hoodie on a sunny day, he probably fainted because of the heat."

"What should I do?"

"Can you remove his hoodie while I get some cold towels to cool him down?"

"Sure thing."

"I'll be right back." The nurse left, leaving me alone with Kihyun.

I slowly removed his hoodie, revealing bruises all over his arm. The bandana that he wore when we first met is under the bracelet around his wrist.

How cruel can his father be? Why is he like this to his own son? I regretted all the things I said that hurt his feelings.

"H-Hyunwoo?" he murmured.

"You should lay down for a while before you can sit down."

"T-Thank you...f-for bringing me here."

I was about to ask him the "question" but I was interrupted by the nurse. "Apply this around his body." he handed over a cold piece of fabric.

I quickly grabbed Kihyun's hoodie and placed it on his arm so that the nurse wouldn't see it. "Thank you."

He left, saying that he was needs to go to the principal office.

I gently wiped the cold cloth on his skin that slightly made him flinch.

"Sorry."

"It's okay."

"I'm sorry for what I said, I was frustrated and confused about the situation because you told me that you love me but you dumped me."

"I completely understand, I'm sorry too."

I helped him to sit down properly. I leaned closer to him and quickly took the opportunity to kiss him.

"You didn't respond......." I snickered.

I did it to myself, I'm the reason why my heartaches. I'm so ashamed at myself but at least I tried.

"C-can you come closer to me? I want to tell you something."

"S-sure."

I stood closer to him, our faces were centimeters away from each other.

"What is it?"

He grabbed my collar, closing the between us.

I broke the kiss with the biggest smile on my face.

"I-I l-love y-you but like I said before, we can't be together." he tried to stand up but I prevented it from happening.

"No, you're not going away again......tell me why......why we can't be together?"

"Because you're going to get killed if we got together."

"If I can have you, I can do anything. I'm ready to sacrifice everything for you."

"I don't want you to get killed......I can't let it happen again."

"What do you mean? What do you mean by "again"?"

"You remember my brother, right?"

"Yes, I've always wanted to meet him."

"But you can't because he died.....he died because of me." tears streamed down his face, I pulled him on my chest where he continued to sob.

"No, it's not your fault."

"It is, we were running away from my father using my brother's car. My father was on our trail but we lost him. Suddenly a truck hit the side of the car of my bother, killing him immediately."

"It's not your fault, it's your father's."

"My father saw that I'm going out with you, he didn't like it. He said that he's going to get rid of you if I didn't break our relationship."

"We need to hide you from your father, you need to hide in our house for some time."

"It's too dangerous, my father is part of a gang. Your family will be in danger."

"A gang? Then it's perfect."

"What do you mean "perfect"?"

"My father was part of a gang before he met my mother, he might now your father and convince him to let you go."

"I don't know if that would work."

"There's only one way to find out."

The bell rang, symbolizing that our P.E. class ended. I helped him walk back to our classroom.

Our friends were staring at us while the whole class didn't care as usual.
