Chapter 8 : ten long years

Erik POV

It's been 10 years . 10 misery years of yearning and longing for her . Her voice , I need to hear it again . I felt like dying . I started singing . Singing about her , wanting her and needing her .

" The day starts , the day ends . Time crawls by . " Oh it's been so long.
" Night steals in pacing the floor . The moments creep yet I can't bear to sleep . " All those sleepless nights just thinking about you .
" Till I hear you sing . " I need your voice .

" And weeks pass and months pass . Season fly " way too long .
" still you don't walk through my door " why haven't u come ?
" and in a haze , I count the silent days " I count the number of days you weren't here and keep on praying you'll be here beside me one day .
" till I hear you sing , once more "

" And sometimes , at night time . I dream that you are there ." Remember that night ? What a beautiful night . I keep on dreaming about it .
" but wake holding nothing but the cold night air " and then I woke up and reality hit me that you are not here , you never were .

" And years come and years go . Time runs dry . Still I ache down to the core " been 10 years and I still feel misery , lost and empty .
" my broken soul , can't be alive and whole . Till I hear you sing , once more " I need you Christine , I need to hear your voice one last time so that it will fix my soul .

" and music , your music , it teases at my ear " sometimes it feels like I can hear you , hear your voice .
" I turn and it fades away , and your not here " but it was never there , you were never there .

" let hopes pass , let dreams pass . Let them die . Without you what are they for " it's all useless without you my Christine . My life , my music , everything .
" I'll always feel no more than halfway real " half of my soul is lost because it's with you . I gave it to you .
" till I hear you sing , once more . "

Ah Christine . I found out she's coming to America right here in Coney Island . That Hammerstein hires her to sing . I have to take this chance , to see her once again and ask her to sing for me .
