•Dylan's POV•
I regret ever coming here with her. I should've just left her at the apartment since I knew this was going to happen but I chose to ignore it anyway.
As I see her walking ahead of me, the stubbornness written all over her face, I smile. She has no idea how beautiful she is even when she's in such a crappy mood. "Are you sure you'll be able to handle that, love?"
She gives me a deadly glare but instead of feeling intimidated, I laugh. She's so cute.
"Of course I will. I'm not weak, Dylan." she states confidently, coming to a halt at the corner of the room and attempting to lift the cardboard box that's filled with various items.
As I expected, she fails, and I laugh even harder. "Let me help you, babe."
I saunter to her side and swiftly pick up the box, placing it on top of the stepladder beside her. She slaps me playfully on my shoulder since I helped her and her pride won't allow it. "I was doing okay!" She pouts, hiding a smile.
"Sure you were," I retort sarcastically and roll my eyes. Getting on my haunches, I squat down and plant a kiss on my wife's huge belly over her overall before stroking it lovingly. "I just couldn't risk you hurting little junior over here."
It's amazing how fast seven months can go by. Just the other day Arianna showed me those two lines on the pregnancy test and now here we are close to holding our bundle of joy. I'm truly excited for this life-changing moment. I can't believe I'm about to be a father.
In fact, my life changed when Ari and I got married two years back.
I thought I would never talk to her again, considering she broke my heart when we were eighteen. She confessed that she cheated and I wanted nothing to do with her at the time. We even stopped fighting together and resigned from the AFA.
Too much was just going on.
Then one day I bumped into this girl Ellen and we quickly hit things off. We dated for a short while before I decided to stop dating so I could focus on my future. I'm not complaining either, it was a fun fling.
Then in a whirlwind, Ari somehow found her way back into my life a year later. I was out grocery shopping at Walmart when I accidentally bumped into her cart and everything just fell into place after that. We clearly still had feelings for each other and our bond grew stronger.
You know it's love when your feelings don't leave even if the person does.
"Relax," she says through her laughter, her high ponytail bouncing up and down. A white bandana is wrapped around her head and tied in a small knot at the front. She has her gold necklace on which I got her for her birthday last year. Even better, she has a beautiful pregnancy glow that I just can't stop admiring. "You know I'd never harm him."
She also rubs her belly and places her hand on mine, squeezing it tightly. I stand up again, pulling her to me as close as I possibly can, and my hand goes to the crook of her neck.
"I love you." I whisper.
"I love you too." she whispers back and I kiss her.
The kiss quickly deepens into a French kiss, distracting us entirely from the sole purpose of us being here. When she moans, that's when I know we must stop before we get carried away. I break the kiss immediately. "Baby, you know we came here to work." I raise an eyebrow.
She rolls her eyes and steps away from me. "You're the one who kissed me." Yanking the roller from the windowsill, Ari dips it into the light blue paint and quickly rolls it over my overall, staining it. "Hey, that's not fair!" I shout after jumping back, but it's too late.
