The trip to Galar took a few hours. Most of that was spent by you just sitting inside at a seat, reading up on Galar from the little book you had bought a week prior.

Eventually though, you had enough of that and walked outside to the bow of the boat. The fresh scent of the salt water hit you and you smiled as the wind ruffled through your hair.

The boat gently rocked back and forth over the waves as you looked around. Everywhere you looked was ocean and your stomach bubbled with excitement at the path ahead of you.

After beating the league in Sinnoh, you decided to decline the role and title of champion and let Cynthia keep her position. It wasn't really something you wanted to do as a job, just having the justification of beating the champion and having your name in the books was good enough for you. So, all those years after beating the Pokémon league, you just continued to help Professor Rowan with his research. It truly sparked your interest in Pokémon and thus, moving to a whole new region with all new Pokémon - for a while - excited you to no end.

You were brought out of your reminiscing when the boat suddenly rose up as it met a large wave. To your freight, it was mere seconds before the wave broke and the boat was sent plummeting down. You didn't even have time to grab the railing and when the boat levelled out, gravity pulled you back.

You let out a yelp as you fell backwards, only to be caught in a pair of arms before you could hit the deck.

"Careful there." A deep voice chuckled from above you and you lifted your head up to meet a pair of Golden eyes.

A surprised noise left you and you scrambled to get out of his hold and stand on your own two feet. "I-I'm sorry!" You squeaked out and grabbed onto the railing before turning to your unexpected rescuer.

The man was tall and had long purple hair, paired with - what was in your eyes - a rather strange outfit. His features weren't unpleasant to the eyes though.

He chuckled and followed your lead, leaning onto the railing. "Not a problem, there's no harm done." He smiled a dashing smile at you and you felt your cheeks heat up slightly and turned your head forward, clearing your throat to get rid of it. "What's your name?" He asked and leaned forward a bit to come into your line of sight.

You turned your head to him and smiled slightly. "I'm Y/N, nice to meet you. What's yours?" You asked before looking forward again, staring off into the ocean a little absentmindedly.

Leon Looked a little surprised when you just dismissed him so easily. It wasn't often that people didn't recognise him. Even on his trip to Sinnoh it was hard to walk around without being recognised. So, intrigued, he decided to get to know you a little better while discarding the title of champion while he was around you. He was rather proud of it but somehow, he wanted you to get to know him without the whole 'champion' thing for once in his life since he got the title.

"I'm Leon."

You hummed in response and when you didn't seem to move to continue the conversation, Leon took it upon himself to do so.

"Are you from Sinnoh?" He asked and you turned back to him.

"Yeah. I'm assuming you are from Galar?" You asked and Leon smiled.

"What gave it away?"

"Your hideous clothes." You snickered as you looked him up and down before standing up straight and leaning back, looking at the back of his cape. Leon chuckled at your comment, surprised at the sudden snark coming from you but liking it nonetheless. "I'm sorry." You giggled to yourself slightly. "You look just fine. Although all those logos on the back of your cape are a thing I have never seen before."

"Apology accepted." Leon said with a small smirk and you smiled a relieved smile back. "So, are you a Pokémon trainer?" He then asked, changing the subject away from his cape so he wouldn't have to explain why he had all those sponsors.

You hummed in response and patted the bag that hung on your hip. "Yup!" You smiled a closed-eyed smile, proud of your Pokémon. "Although I don't really battle with other people anymore. Only if they really want it. I spent the last few years, mostly, just helping the professor study Pokémon back in Sinnoh."

"Oh wow, that must have taken you all over Sinnoh then."

Leon seemed genuinely interested and you couldn't help the small flutter of pride that went through you, nodding in response to his statement. You smiled wishfully to the open ocean as you thought back to the memories before turning to Leon. "I'm curious, what made you go to Sinnoh?"

"Oh, just Business." He waves his hand back and forth and laughed a little awkwardly. "You said you don't battle others anymore. Does that mean you tried beating all the Sinnoh gyms?" Leon asked.

"Yeah I did." You smiled.

"Are you going to try the gym challenge in Galar?" Excitement sparked from him and you chuckled at the sudden change of body language. He must have a special thing with the gym challenge to be so excited about the mention of it.

"No, going through the gyms once is good enough for me."

He visibly slumped and you sent him an apologetic smile.

"I'm more interested in the Pokémon that live in Galar. All new species of Pokémon I have never seen before." You sparkled from excitement, gripping the railing of the boat extra hard before glancing back to Leon when he spoke.

"I can show you around for a bit if you want?" Leon blurted out the sentence before he could really think about it.

You looked up at him in shock. "A-Are you sure? Aren't you busy?"

It took him a small second to react, seeing as he still had to catch up with whatever position he had just gotten himself in, but quickly sent a dashing smile your way, shaking his head. Might as well roll with it, right? Besides, getting to know you better couldn't be that bad. "That is alright." He placed a hand on his hip as he turned his body to face you. "I think it could be a fun time. I'll be like a tour guide." Leon's face didn't give away the mild panic that flashed through his head as he said that. No one knew better than him how bad he was with directions. And now he was offering this?

The beaming smile you sent him though was quick to drown out all the worries, pushing them to the back of his mind. Whether that was a good thing or not was yet to be determined.

A sight from the corner of your eye suddenly caught your attention though.

You whipped your head forward to see a large landmass; the region of Galar that lay in the distance. It quickly got bigger as the boat sped towards the land and you nearly tumbled from the railing as you leaned over it, trying to get a look of the land.

You could feel Leon's eyes on you from behind but, at the moment, you didn't care. All your focus was on the region you were going to call your home for the coming future.
