"Hey, Z."

"Kes!" The shrill voice which belonged to my best friend had me wincing and moving my phone away from my ear. After tapping the speaker icon on the screen, I placed my phone on my night stand and adjusted my hearing aids.

"Sorry baby."

I glanced at the digital alarm clock on the night stand and it had the numbers 6:30 glaring at me. Which is way too early for her to call and scream into my ear. Well, if Elozino Maria Johnson wouldn't do that, then who will?

"Why are you calling by 6:30 in the morning?"

"I have news for you."

The excitement in my best friend's voice was so obvious, so whatever is was, it had to be good. Still, I wondered why she couldn't wait till we see in school.

"Zino, we go to the same school. Whatever you want to tell me can wait."

"No, it can't. Now are you listening or what?"

I sighed in defeat. Trust this girl to force gist down your throat even if you don't want to hear It. I was left with no choice but to listen to her good news.

"Go on." I got up from my bed, then carried on with my preparation for school.

"You know that brand I told you about that my sister works for?"

Buttoning up my shirt, I replied her. "Yeah."

Zino's elder sister works in one of the biggest skincare line in Nigeria, and Zino won't stop talking about how good their products are or how much their brand ambassadors get paid. Always going on and on about how bad she wants to be a brand ambassador, but had only one obstacle.

Her mother.

"I followed my sister there yesterday and guess what?"

"You got it?"

"Yes I did!"

Finally!

"You're talking to the latest signed brand ambassador for Pulchritude skincare!"

A happy squeal left my lips. "Oh my God Zino. I'm so happy for you!"

This has been Zino's dream ever since she discovered this thing called influencing. So far, she has been able to get herself 10 thousand followers, which is quite a lot. I would be pumped if I had up to 10 thousand followers.

"Yes baby gurl!" She giggled with so much excitement.

"Have you told the rest?" I asked, referring to our other two best friends.

"I'll tell them in school abeg. No time."

"So I guess being an errand girl for your mum for almost a month finally paid off."

Zino told us about her plan to be an errand girl, do every single house chore, and even cook. Zino that has sworn to never have anything to do with the kitchen. All that just to please her mother.
