It was bittersweet. So much hard work had finally gotten them somewhere. They had finally managed to debut.

Hoseok was happy about that. It had been tiring to hear his family members ask when he was going to debut and what their songs were going to be like and how they were going to perform... he was glad that portion of his life had ended.

BTS existed now.

His official position was main dancer, rapper and sub-vocalist. His stage name was J-Hope and he was the third oldest member. There were two older members, Seokjin (known as Jin) and Yoongi (known as Suga). Then there were the younger members. There was Namjoon (RM), Jimin, Taehyung (V) and Jungkook. They were a good team. Hoseok was relieved to know that none of them were serial killers in their free time and that they all had similar dreams like him.

They all had to work hard. Practice sometimes lasted the whole day and they had to be taken to the hospital at times. Hoseok made sure to work hard too. He wouldn't be caught dead fooling around. He needed to keep going. This was what he had worked for.

It was when they started getting more and more complex schedules that Bighit decided to get a new manager. There were lots of people who had applied. They picked a former police officer to be the second manager. Namjoon was a bit skeptical, but even Bang PD-nim agreed that a second manager would greatly reduce the load for Sejin.

And they were right. There weren't so many mix-ups and the members felt that their lives were a bit more organized. Their new manager, Joongki, was certainly methodical. He was efficient and looked out for the boys. Hoseok, initially, gained an appreciation for him.

Keyword: initially.

------

It wasn't long until Hoseok figured out that he didn't actually like the manager. No matter what he did, Joongki always found a problem with it. Hoseok's schedules were always more difficult and tiring compared to the others. While the others got a bit of a break, Hoseok didn't.

He decided not to complain. It was for the betterment of the group after all.

------

"Why are your teeth so big?"

Hoseok shrugged. "I don't know. Was born like that, I guess."

Joongki rubbed the dancer's head, none too gently. "You better keep your mask on, so nobody will see your face."

There was a stinging undertone in his voice. Hoseok shook his head. He was never going to show Joongki that his comment had hit home.

-------

"Jungkook, can you rap that part instead?" the vocal teacher said. "Hoseok's voice doesn't exactly match the mood."

"Okay!" the youngest said. He shot a supportive gaze at Hoseok. "It's okay hyung. You're doing great too!"

Hoseok nodded, but the disappointment had sunk in. He spun around, trying to see if... and yes, he was there all right. Joongki was standing in the corner, a knowing look in his face.

The dancer gulped. He generally tried his best to remain upbeat. But for the rest of that session, he let his unhappiness show.

------

"Have you ever thought about this?"

"Huh?" Hoseok said.

Joongki had pulled him aside after the vocal practice. The others had left to go to the dorms. It was just Hoseok and him in the hallway.
