Many times, Hoseok second-guessed himself. What the heck was he doing, fighting for a stupid dream like this?

The chance of success was so low. He could dance, kind of rap, kind of sing, but that was no guarantee of success. His parents loved to remind him that he wasn't making a smart decision.

But no. Hoseok had gone for it anyway.

He had left Gwangju, came to Seoul, and auditioned for an agency and gotten in. He had been so proud of himself then, but now he was regretting everything.

Sure, he got along with everybody. Namjoon was cool, so was Yoongi. Jungkook was the cutest cheese stick that he had ever seen.

But the stress that kept piling up was too much. He had too many responsibilities and he was afraid that he was never going to be able to fulfill them properly.

-------

Hoseok sank down next to the studio door. Everything had gone wrong. He put his face in his hands.

He had screwed up the one thing he knew how to do in the showcase today - dance. And now he had managed to sprain his wrist.

It took a while for the first tears to spring up in his eyes, but once they started, he couldn't stop. What kind of an idiot was he? He would never amount to anything doing this. He would never be successful... never...

He leaned against the wall and let himself cry. If anybody heard him, they didn't come.

------

I should leave the group. I can't do this.

"You should practice this part more," Yoongi said, pointing to Hoseok's lines on the sheet music they had been given. "You're off-key."

"Okay." Hoseok nodded. He had been going at this for a while. Still couldn't do it.

Was he making the right career choice or not? Did he make the right choice? What if this wasn't a good idea and he had just been being stupid?

"Are you okay Hoseok?" Yoongi asked. "You're so distracted."

"We're going to be successful right?"

Yoongi's eyes widened. "Um... we might be. We are taking a risk, yeah, but if you're willing to put your everything into it, then it will be worth it."

Hoseok nodded.

"Why you ask?"

"Just wondering."

"Oh." Yoongi sighed. "We'll be fine, you'll see. If we try our best and work hard, something good will come our way. You're doing great by the way. Don't worry."

Hoseok could only worry. And fret. And panic. And cry.

"Yeah, you're right."

-------

As time went on, it became clear how desperate their situation was. Only a few groups made it each year. The majority of those groups were from big companies. Hoseok and his weak little agency would never be able to compete against the titans of the industry.

It was stupid. He should've listened to his parents. He should've tried harder in school and not been so passionate about something that wasn't going to guarantee him success or stability.

Ah, but how could he leave? Not when Jungkook looked up to him so much...
