IT WAS FOR BIG HIT ENTERTAINMENT! Out of disbelief, you blinked before reading the email again. But sure enough, the company had you sign a disclosure to become an English coach for trainees at Big Hit Entertainment. As a fan of BTS, TXT, and the company's new competition show The I-Land, you grinned as you began to daydream about running into some of the idols at the company. However, the contract did say you would only be working with the unknown trainees, so your chance of running into one of the idols or competition trainees was very slim. While you didn't have much hope, you couldn't let your own dreams crush your excitement. After all, the new trainees may one day be successful idols, and you would be able to brag that you helped them learn English. Although social networks allowed for fans and stars to translate each others words, you felt it was always nice to hear your favorite idols speak in your native language. b
You had the urge to tell Morgan the news, but the contact and disclosure stopped you. You couldn't tell anyone what company you were working for. That was part of the deal, unfortunately. At least for the first few months, as the company spoke that the disclosure could be altered with time and trust. If they knew you wouldn't blab about predebuted trainees and your own interactions with the company, you might be able to gain freedom to tell people you work for Big Hit. But for now, it was to be a secret to everyone else. The email also disclosed that your flight to Korea had been purchased by the company, and you left in two days. While you had already started packing with Morgan, you were immediately hit with a cloud of stress. You couldn't believe you would be going to be in a different country in two days for at least 6 months.
To process everything, you decide to take a walk and go visit a friend who lives nearby. After grabbing dinner, the two of you go back to your apartment and work on packing more of your clothes. The friend is kind enough to help you search for a subletter, and you work on creating a social media ad together. You will miss your apartment, and you hope that your new place in Korea is just as nice, if not better, than your current studio.
------*2 days later*-------
You wake up bright and early to take a car service over to the international airport, and after doing one last check of the apartment, you lock the door and place the key in the secure lockbox outside for a potential subletter to access. Your friend from down the street is on the sidewalk to help see you off, and Morgan already is on her way to greet you at the airport.
Your friend finds the car you would be taking, and after giving one final hug, you depart with your luggage. Your friend waves as the car starts rolling away, and your eyes start to tear up knowing that you are leaving the place you called home to go to a country that is completely foreign to you. You wave back at your friend as a tear rolls down your cheek, but yet you smile knowing that thanks to modern technology, you will still be able to keep in touch with your friends.
After arriving at the airport, Morgan finds you in the airport, excited to help you find the airport company that provided you will a first-class ticket to Seoul, South Korea, complimentary of Big Hit (though Morgan doesn't know you'll be working at Big Hit, she has suspicision it is a bigger entertainment company given your seat upgrade). The two of you have time to spare before you have to stress about getting through security as there is a very short line, so you grab coffee at a nearby stand and chat for a few moments.
"I still can't believe you're going to Korea, like, today," Morgan says quietly as the airport is not very crowded.
"Me either," you giggle and sip your coffee. "I just hope I get some sleep on the long ride there."
"Dude, you are in first-class," Morgan puts her hand on yours out of jealousy. "They pretty much have beds in some first-class airplanes."
"True," you nod. "And you'll be okay without me for a year?" Although the two of you only knew each other for a little over a year, you were as close as childhood best friends.
"Of course," she waves her hand at you dismissivly. "Plus, maybe you'll get tickets to a BTS concert and I can come visit." She bats her eyelashes.
"Ha, I hope so," you giggle nervously, since you know you might be working in the Big Hit building with the trainees at the same time as the BTS members. Although you doubted you would run into any of the boys, you still had some hope that it could happen.
"But seriously,"Morgan looks at you with a serious expression, "why won't you just tell me what company you are going to be working with?"
"I told you," Morgan whines as you scold her. "nondisclosure agreement keeps my lips sealed. Sorry girl. Maybe once I can tell you once I start working over there and the company trusts me."
"Guh, I just wish I could know now though," she sighs out of frustration. "Like you totally are working for SM or something if you have to be this secretive. Like they have several idols that speak English, but they don't have the time themselves to teach the others, so it makes sense why they would hire an English coach."
"Morgannnn," you shake your head and look at your phone clock. "Oh shoot, I should probably start to get through security."
"Ah, I can't believe you're leaving," Morgan says dramatically putting her hand on her forehead. You both stand up and hug one last time before you leave for the security gates. Morgan stays near the table and waves at you when you turn back before going through the gate and out of sight.
You are on your own in the airport now. A little panicked, you look at the departure screen after going through all the security measures, and find your flight will still arrive on time. You locate your boarding gate and find a seat nearby to rest for a bit. A tall woman with a sleek black outfit comes to sit next to you and tilts her head. With a high topbun and intense eyes, she squints as she points at you.
"You are Y/N?" she asks you with a Korean accent.
"Um," you nervously shift in your seat. "Yes?" You give her a confused look.
"Ah, hi," the strange woman suddenly gives you a warm grin, completely opposite of her intimidating appearance. "I am Jae Park, I am with, um, BHE,"
"BHE?" you ask and she gets a little closer to you.
"Big Hit.....?" she whispers in your ear. Your eyes widen as you realize she is probably there to accompany you on your flight.
"Oh," you say in realization and she holds her hand out for you to shake. "Nice to meet you." You nervously smile.
"It is nice to meet you. Are you excited to go to Korea?" she puts her hand on her thigh and crosses her slender legs underneath her.
"Yeah, I just didn't know someone was going to be with me on the flight there," she nods as you say this.
"Ah, we keep secrets," she smirks. "It is okay. I will make sure you get to the company, okay?" She nods her head at you, seeking agreement. An announcement comes on the overhead speaker to declare for boarding. You nod back at Jae, and you both stand up from your chairs. Jae looks at you nervously, almost as if she didn't know what was going on.
"What is....?" she looks at you.
"Oh, the plane is ready for people to get on," you tell her, hoping that she can understand that. She nods in reply and gets her things ready.
Once you board the plane, you find that Jae is seated nearby, and the two of you talk briefly about your ages, interests, and such. Jae's English is understandable to you, but it seems she has a hard time understanding you sometimes. In return, you try to keep the conversation simple as the other passengers board the plane and prepare for takeoff.
The plane finally is ready to depart, and you return to your seat to buckle up.
