When you open the door to your apartment, Nabi has her bedroom door shut, so you assume she is out or working in her room. You rummage through the fridge to find some leftovers to eat for dinner, and then shuffle into your own room. Flopping face down on the bed, you hear a knock on your bedroom door soon after taking a large sigh. Nabi calls your name, and you tell her to open the door.
"Hey," Nabi leans on the doorframe. "Are you okay? What is going with you and Jae?" You sit up on your bed, and she walks closer to you.
"How do you know about that?" you ask, and she looks down at the floor.
"I saw you two talking at the office, and then you seemed very sad later," she nods her head sadly.
"It was nothing really," you shrug it off. "I guess I was just being overly dramatic,"
"Dramatic?" she asks, looking confused. "What is-?" You forgot you had the translator app on your phone, and you pull it out to type what you said to her. After reading the translation, she looks back at you and then types something in Korean into the app before handing it to you.
"I think you're pretty, no matter what Jae says. Korea has a big beauty expectation but do not let it ruin you," you read what it says and then see Nabi kindly smiling at you.
"Do you want to get takeout?" Nabi asks, pulling up the menu to one of your go-to takeout places nearby. You sniffle and nod your head in agreement.
The new cafe you had found online isn't very far from your apartment, so you walk over and enjoy the weather. It's another beautiful day, and you feel lucky to be able to not have work. When you arrive at the cafe, you notice there are tables and chairs set up outside for customers, and you plan on finding an empty table there once you get your food. Even though the cafe is pretty new, it is not very crowded, so you aren't worried about not getting a seat outside as you head into the cafe. You order a coffee and pastry for yourself, and check your phone while you wait for your order. There is one text message notification from an unknown number. You unlock your phone to read the text.
"Hi. This is Seokjin. Do you have food allergy?" the text reads. So now you know Jin has your number, probably from Rosie or Namjoon. You are a little shocked that he was asking about food allergies, expecially since it was his first text to you ever.
"No, why?" you reply. He replies with a smiley face emoji. You are a little confused so decide to text Namjoon.
"Why did Jin ask if I have food allergies?" you text him, and your phone buzzes. Namjoon sends a message with a question mark and a silly tounge-out emoji. You then get another text from him, asking what you are doing.
"I'm just at a new cafe near my apartment. It's my day off," you respond, curious about what is going on.
"What cafe??" he replies almost immediately.
"Why do you want to know?" you question as the barista hands you your order. You find an empty table outside the cafe, place your things down, and pull out your book to read while enjoying your breakfast. Your phone buzzes again.
"I like to try new cafes," he sends the text with a winky face, and you blush even though it's just a simple text message. You decide to tell him the name of the cafe, expecting him to respond that he would be there to say hello. However, he did not respond so you continue reading your book.
You aren't really into romance novels, but Morgan had suggested this one book for you that was just the right amount of romance, drama, and action. The book is well written, and you find yourself getting immersed in the storyline. So much so that you don't even notice when someone sits down in the empty chair across from you.
"Hi," the person says, and you look up from your book to see Namjoon in a mask and hat staring at you.
"I figured," you scoff, and he chuckles in response to your non-suprised expression."What are you reading?" Namjoon asks, trying to catch a glispm of the cover. However, you cover the book with your hands, slightly embarrased.
"What are you doing here? Don't you have things to do, people to see?" you ask, finding your bookmark and putting it in between the pages. Namjoon leans back and folds his arms across his chest.
"Maybe I wanted to go to a cafe, and when you told me about this one, I wanted to check it out," he teased, "Plus, all the guys are asleep, unless you count Yoongi. But he is working on music even on our day off," he shrugs.
"You don't have any friends to hang out with?" you say as he swipes the book from the table to examine the cover.
"What do you mean? You are my friend," he turns the book over to read the back cover. "Why can't I hang out with you?" You reach out to try to take your book back.
"I just saw you though. Don't you have other friends?" you blush.
"Well, I wanted to make sure you got home okay. I don't want a bear to attack you," you laugh at Namjoon's excuse.
"You walked with me to my apartment, Namjoon. And I'm pretty sure there are no bears in Seoul," Namjoon puts his hands up in defeat.
"Well, I am glad you didn't get attacked by a bear," he smiled and looked over at your near-empty coffee cup. "Are you done with that?" He reaches over to throw it out for you.
"It's okay. I'll throw it out when I leave," you say, quickly grabbing the cup, causing the remaining coffee inside to spill onto your new, cream shirt. Namjoon quickly reacts, grabbing a napkin, and he is about to help clean up the spill by dabbing your shirt, but he stops when he realizes what he was about to do.
"Uh, here," he says, embarrased, and hands you the napkin for you to clean the spill up. You thank him and try to dab the coffee out of your shirt as best as you can. However, the coffee leaves a dark stain in the middle of your shirt, and you grumble in frustation.
"This was a new shirt," you say with a frown. "I should go home to put stain remover on it before the shirt is ruined," Namjoon removes the flannel button-down shirt that he had on, revealing muscular arms with his white t-shirt underneath.
"Here, just wear this over it," he hands you the button-up and you look at him with surprise. He insists you take the shirt, and you shyly put it on to cover the stain.
"I really do need to get home though so it doesn't set," you insist and get up from the table, putting your book back in your bag.
"Can I come with you?" he asks, standing up as well, and you just stare at him for a second. "I mean, I can wait outside. I just thought you could help me practice talking only in English in the park, if that's okay."
"Um," you take a moment to process what he just asked you. "I don't have any plans, so I guess I could help you practice," Namjoon raises his fist up in celebration.
The two of you walk back to your apartment, and when you arrive at your apartment door, you end up just telling him to come inside because someone might recognize him even with the hat and mask. You open the door and let him go in first, only to hear a high-pitched squeal and a long string of Korean before you have the chance to close the door.
Oh, s****.
