After successfully navigating the bus system around Seoul to your apartment, you look through the shared refrigerator for something to cook for dinner. Your phone alerts you that Nabi has texted you, and you close the fridge after reading she is going to order takeaway to bring back on your way home. You thank her, really appreciating her kindness, and decide to call your family.
Your parents are glad that you have settled in Korea well, and your mother is curious about what you are doing for the company. You manage to give as much information as you can without breaking the contract, and your mom seems relieved that the company is paying you a decent amount. Your father, however, is a little standoffish, and you can tell that he is suspicious because of your excitement about the position. However, he does say that he is happy that you are teaching English to help others improve their skills, and he asks if you will learn Korean. You honestly had been considering it, but you weren't sure of how to begin. You explained that maybe Nabi or Jae could help you learn.
Nabi enters the apartment after you end your phone with bags of food, and you help her set them around the dining table. All the food looks delicious and fresh, and your mouth waters as you prepare the meal. You sit across from Nabi after everything is set, and Nabi helps serve the food.
"How was lunch?" Nabi asks you.
"It was good. The boys are nice!" you respond, and Nabi smiles.
"Did anything else happen?" Nabi tilts her head curiously.
"Well.....Jae had me go to a meeting room where I found out that the company wants me to teach the boys of TXT to help them with their English skills" you say, slightly timid although you assumed it was safe to tell her since she is an employee at the company. She looks at you slightly confused.
"More...simple?" she asks, and it seems that she is having an issue understanding you. She pulls out her phone and types something up on the screen. She hands the mobile device to you, and you see she has used a translation app to say that she is still bad at English and she thinks this would help communicate better. You type out a response explaining what happened today with TXT and hand back the phone to her.
"Oh, surprise! Yay! They told you!" she squeals and claps her hands excitedly. You look at her with wide eyes.
"Wait, you knew?!" Nabi laughs at your reaction.
"Yes, me and Jae, we all knew. We couldn't tell you," you chuckle, impressed that Nabi and Jae had kept this from you. "Are you excited?"
"YES!" you say, maybe a little too enthusiastically. "I can't believe I will be helping TXT," you continue eating your food, and the two of you have an enjoyable dinner together.
After you clean up, Nabi asks if you want to watch a movie together, and you agree, curious if she would recommend anything. Nabi plops down on the couch and turns on the TV to a streaming service. You both agree on a Korean romance film, and Nabi makes sure to put on English subtitles. To help communicate, Nabi shows you a Korean-English translate app that you download on your phone. Hopefully, this will be helpful especially when you are out by yourself and if there is an emergency. Maybe you wouldn't need to worry about learning Korean after all. But you still were curious about learning.
Nabi suggests showing you around Seoul tomorrow since she has the day off, and you agree since you haven't gotten the chance to really be a tourist yet. You spend the rest of the night coming up with things to do over the day, and Nabi ends up texting Rosie to ask if she would want to meet the two of you for lunch in the downtown area. After you make tentative plans together, you both say goodnight and head to bed.
The next day, Nabi knocks on your bedroom door early in the morning, excited to start the day. Once you are ready and eat breakfast at the apartment, the two of you head out to go sightseeing for the day.
