The man still doesn't respond and keeps driving. However, the car suddenly brakes as another car juts out in front, causing the driver to swerve and hits the railing on the side of the street. The car lurches you forward slightly, but your seatbelt saves you from leaving your seat. You feel a slight burn from the resistance, but you don't feel any other pain. You sit in the car, still in shock as the driver quickly unbuckled his seatbelt in a frenzy.
The driver from the car starts to approach the driver's side door, but the driver quickly gets out of the car and starts running away, knowing he has somehow been caught. In shock, you remain in the car, but see Namjoon open the door on your side and look you up down.
"Y/N," he says with worry all over his face. "Are you okay?" You just nod as you can't seem to speak, and Namjoon quickly helps you unbuckle your seatbelt. You feel strain in your neck, and you put your hand on the back of your neck.
"Does it hurt?" Namjoon stops moving, quickly putting his hand on the back of your beck as well.
"I'm fine," you say, swating his hand away. Rolling your head to help stretch, it feels fine so you duck under Namjoon's arm to get out of the automotive. Namjoon steps back so that you can step out, but you stumble thanks to your heels, falling foward onto his chest. Namjoon quickly catches you in his arms and gives you a tight hug.
"You're safe," he whispers in your ear, ignoring the loud beepings of cars around you. You look over at Namjoon's driver struggling to hold the driver's wrists, but he ends up pulling him over to the sidewalk as a police car stops nearby with its lights on.
The next half an hour is a blur, as the police interview you about the man and the car service you had contacted. It turned out that the man had created an illegitimate car service online with the intent to kidnap young women, and you cannot believe this was happening to you. Namjoon stays with you to help translate between you and the officer on the side of the street. The police officer also looks you over for any injuries, and other than a slight abrasion from where the seatbelt was, you felt fine. Namjoon tried to insist you go to the hospital just in case, but you refused, not wanting to make the day any more hectic.
Once the police has all the information and a towtruck collects the suspect's car, Namjoon tilts his head to look at you.
"Here, we can take my car," he says walking over to the car he had hired to find you, and his driver opens the back door for both of you. Namjoon nods for you to go first, and you get in the car with hesitation.
"I've totally ruined your birthday. I'm so sorry," you become suddenly aware that you are crying, and Namjoon gets in quickly behind you to help buckle you in."No, no," he tries to console you. "It's okay, I am really happy you're safe," he looks at you so sincerely, which only makes you sob more, tears flowing out of your eyes. You wipe your eyes, not caring if it messes up your makeup.
"That was scary, I know, but it's all okay," he pushes a tear away from your face with his thumb, and his hand lingers on your cheek for a second. "Don't cry, please,"
"And now I've caused you to miss your birthday dinner," you groan.
"It's okay, the room is reserved for the whole night, everyone else is still there," he puts his hand in his lap. "Do you want to come still? It's okay if you want to go home." You shake your head, indicating that you still want to go celebrate Namjoon's birthday. "I am just happy you're safe,"
"I don't want to worry everyone by going home," you insist. "Plus, it will hopefully distract me from everything that just happened." Namjoon sighs as he says something to the driver, who nods as the car drives away from the scene.
