Chapter 28: Surprise

The following day is Namjoon's 28th birthday, and you wake up to find a text from Hoseok about meeting to celebrate Namjoon's birthday with the other members sometime during the day. Still half asleep, you slowly get up to respond to the text, telling Hoseok you'll be at the Big Hit offices for most of the day if they are around. You aren't sure of the boys' schedules, so you hoped that they would communicate their plans with you later. You step out of your room to find Nabi in the kitchen already, making breakfast.

"I made breakfast!" she says, coming towards you with a plate full of rice, egg, and some kind of meat. "Happy Namjoon day!"

"What day?" you rub your eyes, wiping away your sleepiness.

"Namjoon's birthday day!" Nabi repeats, and you nod in the realization of what she meant. "What did you get Namjoon?"

"What?" you take the plate that Nabi holds out in front of you, and walk to the table to place your food there. "Why would I get Namjoon something? I don't know him,"

"I know you know him," Nabi rolls her eyes, unamused. "You need to introduce me next time he visits," she types on her phone to you, and it makes you remember the awkward run-in with Nabi with Namjoon at your apartment. Nabi had been good about keeping things private, and she really hadn't been asking what you were up to with the Bangtan boys.

"Oh, right," you try to laugh it off.

"So....." she looks at you, grabbing her own plate of food to sit across from you.

"Honestly, I don't know what to get him," you shrug your shoulders. "They all have money so probably have everything they could ever want," you use your phone to translate, and Nabi contemplates for a minute before writing a response back to show you.

"We should go shopping and look for anything! I am good about getting gifts, and I think even a little something would be nice," you nod, agreeing to her text, and thank her for offering to help.

"I have work though," you groan and begin to eat.

"I will get something for you and drop it off. Trust me?" Nabi looks at you with pleading eyes.

"Okay, I will pay you back," Nabi shakes her head at your response.

"I help get Namjoon good gift, no cost," she lifts her drink up to cheers to settle the agreement. You deeply sigh in defeat and lift your glass to clink it with hers.

When you arrive at the office, there is a note at your desk about a meeting at 4:00 pm in one of the rooms on an upper floor, and you look around the office to ask Rosie about it.

"What is the meeting for?" you ask when you find her in the staff lounge, and she looks at you confused.

"Meeting?" she asks, and you show her the note in your hand. "I was not invited," she scratches her head.

"Oh, weird," you say, putting the note in your pocket and shrugging. Maybe it was just another meeting with TXT. But then, why wasn't Rosie involved? She usually knows about the meetings as she helps set them up. This was a bit odd.

You take the elevator to one of the upper floors when the time comes to have the meeting as per the note, and you note that you had not been on this floor before. When you step off the elevator, you are greeted by Taehyung.

"Noona!" Taehyung greets you with a bear hug, excitedly dancing while his arms are around you. "We going to give hyung cake," he says when he lets you go, and putting a finger to his lips, tiptoes into the hallway. He opens a door to reveal the other members, except Namjoon, fussing around the cake that you had made the other day with Taehyung.
