I- The Beginning.

"Angel if you don't take your stupid ass home! I have a three in one coming in five minutes and I've been done with your hair for like thirty.", Kennedy says laughing and pushing her out of the chair.

"This is really how you do your bestfriend? That's a goddamn shame.", Angel says standing up.

"Shut up, you know I love you. You wanna do something Friday after I get off?", Kennedy asks sweeping around her station.

"Yes, please! We haven't had a night out in weeks. There's a new club that's opening about five minutes from my crib Friday, and we have to go check it out.", Angel says grabbing her purse.

"Sounds like a plannnn. I'll see you later baby. I love you and be safe.", Kennedy says hugging Angel.

"I love you too and I always am. I'll text you later.", Angel says pulling away from the hug and walking out.

"Hello, I'm hea' fa a 4:30 appointment fa my nieces.", a deep, strong accented voice speaks to the check-in clerk as she looks down at her clipboard. "August?", she asks looking back up.

"Yes ma'am.", he says with a slight head nod.

"Okay, Ken?", she asks.

"What's up? Oh, hi.", Kennedy says smiling and looking at the three little girls standing next to August. "Are these beautiful little ladies my 4:30 clients?", she says walking to them and bending down to their level.

"Yes ma'am.", they say in unison.

"Y'all are so freaking cute. So, who wants to go first?", she says standing back up. "Me!", the oldest of the three girls says with her hand up and a smile on her face. "Okay pretty baby, let's go get you washed.", she says leading her to the sink.

"So, what's your name?", she asks putting the bottle of oil sheen down and starting to part her hair. "Chaylin, what's yours?", Chaylin asks. "Your name is pretty, but my name is Kennedy.", she says starting to flat iron her hair.

While Kennedy and Chaylin have their conversation, August is having his own with his other two nieces...

"You like ha, don't you?", his youngest niece, Kayden asks him. "I don't even know ha Kay.", he says looking away from Kennedy and at her.

"Well ya think she's pretty right? I think she's pretty.", his middle niece, Amaiya asks.

"Yeah, I do think she's pretty. She's really pretty.", August says looking at Kennedy again as she's laughing at something Chaylin said. "Then ask her out!", Kayden and Amaiya say in unison.

"I just might.", August says keeping his eyes locked on Kennedy, slightly biting his bottom lip.

"May I help you?", she asks looking to the side at him and smiling a bit.

"Nah.. Nah, my bad fa staring.", he chuckles nervously before looking down at his hands.

"It's fine.", she giggles before putting her focus back on Chaylin's hair.

"There you go, Ms. Kayden.", Kennedy says turning the chair around so she can see herself in the mirror.

"Oh my God, I love it. Thank you, Ms. Kennedy.", Kayden says smiling and looking at herself in the mirror.

"You are so welcome babygirl.", she says lowering the chair so Kayden can get out of it before walking over to August, Chaylin, and Amaiya.

"Thank you for doing their hair, they look amazing. You got some serious talent, ma.", August says standing up and walking to her. "You're welcome, and thank you so much.", she smiles.

"No problem, baby.", he smiles, "Oh! Hea' you go.", he says pulling out his wallet to pay her the money for the girls' hair.

"You own this spot right?", he asks handing her the money. "I do, and thank you.", she says taking the money. "Aight, that's wassup... Aight let me stop beating around the bush.", he chuckles scratching his neck.

"You are a very beautiful woman, Kennedy, and I would love to get to know you, if you'd allow me.", he says licking his lips, making her smile a little bit.

"That was really cute, I'm not gonna lie.", she chuckles, "But I'd like to get to know you too, I'll uh give you my number.", she says grabbing a small piece of paper and a pen and writing her number down.

"There you are.", she says handing him the piece of paper. "Thank you.", he smiles. "Mhm, put that to some use.", she smiles, pointing at him with her pen.

"I will.", he chuckles, "Let's go babies.", he says looking to the side at the girls.

"I'll see you around, August.", she smiles backing up. "I'll see you shawty.", he smiles back before walking out behind the girls.

"Damn.", she mumbles while sitting down in her chair.

Locking up her salon, Kennedy walks to her car that sits right in front of it, unlocking it and getting in.

Starting her car, she plugs up her aux to play some music and starts to sit it down until a notification rolls in making her stop in her tracks.

She smiles at her phone, acknowledging the fact that he actually texted her, only for it to go away quickly once an unexpected and unwanted call comes through.

"Hey.", she answers the phone. "You on your way home?", Peyton asks. "Yeah, I'll be there in 10.", she says. "Okay, see you when you get here.", he says. "See you.", she says hanging up.
