After that eventful conversation, Maggie, on Claire's orders went back to resting to heal her body. As she was asleep, Fergus found Jamie and sat down to converse with him.
"Milord, I need help." Fergus said.
All Jamie did was nod and take him to the table that held Claire and Ian.
"I want to kill the bastards that did this, Milord." Fergus pleaded.
"I agree Fergus, we should split up and ask around town today to see if anyone knows anything." Jamie responded with a nod.
"I'll stay here with Maggie, make sure she is alright." Claire said, standing to head upstairs.
"Ok, let's go."
***********
Fergus went straight to the scene of the crime. Starting from there, he went into a tavern just around the corner, asking around if anyone knew anything.
Once he came out of the tavern, he noticed a women in the window of the opposite window peeking out, looking right at him. A soon as she noticed he was looking at her, she quickly shut the curtains. Knowing something was amiss, Fegrus investigated his hunch further by going to the house and knocking on the door.
"Madam! Madam!" Fergus said.
Answering the door was the woman who he saw.
"What do you want?" The woman asked, weary of the presence.
"I saw you looking Madam, and I wanted to know if you knew anything about an attack a couple of nights ago, down that lane there." Fergus asked, pointing to the alley beside the tavern.
"I only saw a struggle, and then the mens eyes as they walked away. They threantened me, said if I was to say anything, they would do the same to me. I don't know what happened. I didn't go outside to see what happened." She said with a meek expression.
With a straight face, Fergus walked away, in search for the men.
*********
Upon walking back to the inn where they were staying, Ian strode past a group of men who were speaking Gaelic, boasting about some woman they managed to sleep with.
"Ach, She was gagging for it man. As soon as we had her cornered in the alley last night, she didn't put up much of a fight." The biggest man boasted.
Feeling something was off about what they were saying, Ian managed to get a good look at their faces before running off the the inn in search of Fergus and Jamie. Once he got back to the inn, he saw Fergus sanding by the fireplace with Jamie, the two talking about what they had discovered.
"Uncle, Fergus, i might have found them. I don't know for sure but there were a group of Scots boasting about their adventures with a lady. Say they cornered her and she didn't give up a fight." Ian exclaimed with a hopeful look on his face, hoping that they had found the men.
Fergus immediately sprung into action,
"Where did you see them, Ian?" He asked, already walking out of the door with both Ian and Jamie following close behind.
"Couple of streets over." Ian replied
"Fergus, we don't know if this is who we are looking for. We have to handle this calmly." Jamie said, being the voice of reason.
"Milord, I have to know." Was all Fegrus said, gensturing for Ian to lead the way.
*********
As the trio arrived at the spot where Ian directed them to, they came across the same group of men Ian had seen, now speaking about gambling away their money.
Speaking in Gaelic, Jamie approached the group and asked,
"Gentlemen, I heard that you had a woman last night, I was hoping you could tell me what she looked like. I would like to find her because she could be my servant who ran away and I need to give her a beating."
"Ach, She had golden hair and soft skin, she didn't look like much of a servant but my god she was good."A ginger man said.
"Where did you have your way with her?" Jamie asked, trying to mask his anger.
"Not that its any of your business, we had her again and again in the alley by the Spotted Goose Tarvern over thataways." The strong man, obviously the leader, turned to his men and said, "Lets away Gentlemen, I still have an urge to fulfill."
As the men turned away and started walking down the street, Jamie turned to Fergus and gave him and Ian a nod that said this was the men that they were looking for.
Fergus filled with rage at the thought of those men touching his Maggie started walking fast down the street, only to be pulled back by Jamie.
"You canna kill a man in daylight, on the main street no less." He said. "We'll get them to come down an alley and then do it." Jamie's morals has now left him because of the picture in his head of his daughter being hurt.
"Ian, go and pose as the son of a brothel's owner, tell them there are new women down that alley, there we will kill them." Jamie said calmly, nodding to the alley a couple of metres away.
Ian nodded and hurried after the men. Fergus and Jamie got into their positions in the darkness of the alley.
"Milord, I want to be the one who kills the strong one. He's the leader, the others just followed him. He did it to Maggie." Fergus said with rage in his voice.
Jamie saw the change in his expression and demenor and just nodded.
