12 - Just Fuck Off Before I Mess Up Your Face, Got It?
My heart stops and my breathing goes ridged, why does he turn up when I feel my life could be different? Why does he show up after finally not feeling burdened to our past? Once everything feels right he makes it wrong again.
"Melissa, what's wrong?" a voice asks, but its muffled, my mind can't focus on anything around me, I feel lost — like I'm in a different world, and my surroundings are all just a hallucination that my mind has put together to disfigure my thoughts.
My stomach is turning with nausea, the room around me is spinning at top speed around me. Nothing seems to ever be right, why can't I have peace? Why do I always have to have a constant reminder about what happened, why can't I just be allowed to forget it?
"What do you want?" I manage to spit angrily, turning to the one and only person I wish I could never see again, every time my mind drifts off to him I feel bile rising in my throat. "How did you know about that?"
"I was the one to come up with the idea," he shrugs nonchalantly, as if this was all some sort of joke to him, then chuckles.
"How could you?" I frown deeply, tears filling my eyes, then whisper the next part, the piece that only Evan and Jess know. "First you cheat on me, and now you come up with an idea that happens to be me locked in a closet covered in glue?" I rage, then repeat my first statement, "How could you?"
"Oh, darling," he says in an obviously fake soothing voice, leaning towards my face, our noses almost touching. Then pushes a strand of hair from my face and whispers, "The girls aren't the only ones who never cared about you."
I weakly push him away from me, trying to escape his tight grip. Are you fucking kidding me? I fucking hate feeling like this all the time, constantly worried and weak.
"Let go of her." Evan interjects calmly, keeping a stolid expression, Xander laughs.
"What are you? Her boyfriend?" Xander challenges with a vacant look plastered on his idiotic face.
"No, but we are close enough." Evan states, his voice not wavering at the slightest. "I don't have to be her boyfriend to care about her."
"Just fuck off before I mess up your face, got it?" Sam interjects, obviously peeved that there is no fights blowing up in front of his eyes. "I want to punch you so badly, but I actually care if I get suspended or not."
"Really?" Xander continues wryly. "I think my cheek is very punchable." he looks at me and smiles an obviously fake smile. "What do you think, Marissa?"
I keep my mouth shut and avoid eye contact; I can't let him get to me again. I'm not going to let him manipulate me, not twice.
"Leave her out of this." Sam growls deleteriously, with his eyes full of anger.
"Or what?" he asks smiling, almost showing blissfulness, removing his hand from my face, and I immediately relax, the last time he was that close was in the seventh grade.
Get over yourself, it was a stupid middle school relationship, it was bound to end badly. I should get over it, but it ruined my confidence — it made me believe that I was so terrible that I was replaced so easily, but why her?
"Like I said before, I will fuck your face up." Sam deadpans.
"Really? And like I said before I a very punchable cheek," he says pointing to his face and his lips turn into a sly smirk when Sam just stares as him blankly with clenched fists.
