07 - No, this is Patrick!
"What?" I ask gaping in shock. "What the hell did they tell you?"
"They told me that you hated me and you wished I wasn't alive, and since I thought you guys were friends around then I though they were telling the truth since I assumed you told them everything." Evan begins then gives me a guilty look. "They also said that all the time we ever spent together was a lie and just a way to pass time for you."
"Oh my God,” I gasp, why would they do that? I knew they were bitches, but I didn't think that they would ever go that far. "so after blaming myself for five whole years it wasn't actually my fault?"
"You blamed yourself for me ignoring you?" he asks and his jaw drops in astonishment. "Why would you blame yourself?"
"I thought I did something wrong to make you hate me, it was all terrible timing." I sigh, all of that happened so quickly it was too much for twelve year old me to handle. "First, you suddenly hate me. Then on that same day my mom dies, two days later is Valentine’s Day and that disaster happens — Amazing."
"Speaking of Valentine’s, what happened?" he asks then starts then car and pulls out of the parking lot, I groan
"Is there a way I could get out of this?" I ask hopeful that I won't have to tell him, I want to tell him, but I don't know if he would keep his mouth shut about it.
“No way at all,”
"Shit." I sigh. "Well, you remember Xander, right? I dated him in seventh grade."
"I remember."
"Okay, so we were dating about a year and our anniversary was on Valentine’s Day." I start then take a deep breath. "That night was the Valentines dance for the seventh and eighth graders, so Xander asked me to be his date and I obviously said yes."
"I always thought the dance was stupid, but I went any ways because he urged me to go. The dance was right after school so I had to bring my dress and makeup to school with me to change into, the whole day I was jumping up and down in excitement."
"When the end of the day came I ran to the girls' locker room to get changed into my dress, and I loved the dress. Once I walked into the locker room everyone stopped in their tracks and started to whisper about me. I couldn't point out what they were saying exactly, but I knew it wasn't good by the looks I was getting."
"I didn't let the looks bother me, I quickly got changed and redid my makeup. Once I was done I ran out to the gym and I saw Xander kissing another girl. I ran up to them and pulled them apart with tears in my eyes."
"When I asked Xander what he was doing all he said was that he doesn't like me anymore and he got a new girlfriend then made out with her with me standing there feeling helpless and broken."
"I ran out of the gym crying and went back into the locker room, when I got there I saw other girl quickly putting on makeup then when she turned to my direction I immediately looked away."
"She must have noticed I was upset, so she stopped what she was doing to hug me. She introduced her self and told me a few things about herself. Her name was Jess, that's how we met."
"Jess helped me take off all my makeup and even ditched her date to help me, it was the kindest think anyone has ever done for me — ever."
