We were all so into the game, that none of us realized that there was a short kid standing by the fence the separated The Beast's home from our field. It was when Benny hit a homer that we all realized he was there.
It flew and we watched it, until the kid tried to catch it with his little plastic glove, he fell over, and the guys started laughing. Everyone was laughing except me and Benny. I glanced at him and he looked pretty annoyed with the guys.
Yeah Yeah was on the ground, laughing like a hyena. "Hey guys, get over here," I said. Benny spoke up. "Give him a chance." "but the kids an L-7 WEENIE!" Squints yelled. "Yeah Yeah, Oscar Meyer even, Ballpark, FOOTLONG! A weenie!" Yeah Yeah added. The kid looked sad now. I rolled my eyes at their remarks. "Yeah, but you run like a duck," Benny said looking at Yeah Yeah. "Kay kay, but I'm-" Yeah Yeah started. Benny jumped in again. "Part of the game, right?" Yeah Yeah nodded. "Then why don't he get to be?" Benny said and sighed. "Whatever. Base up blockheads."
