Back in our tent, I pulled my pack from beneath the cot, folding and tucking my extra clothes into tidy rolls before nestling them into my pack neatly and compactly. Anakin entered shortly after, grabbed his clothes, shoved it all into his sack, and slung it over his shoulder. "Slowpoke. Hurry up- I want to get OUT of here!" His face glowed as he jumped up and down with impatience.
"Anakin- unlike you, I like to stay neat and organized. Its a nice idea- you should try it." I glowered at him, but when I turned away I couldn't help but smile. He looks so happy. I miss his smile... After finishing placing all my things in my pack, I walked out and crossed to where the command tent was.
There were a lot of things we needed to do before we left, and when night arrived we had still not left. This put Anakin in a sour mood, and when I saw him saunter away with a blaster in hand, I hurried after him. "Anakin! What.? oh."
Of course, I had assumed he would do something rash or violent, but in reality he was in the repair tent fixing up damaged weapons. "Hi, master." He sounded a bit deflated. Frowning, I walked across the room, stepping carefully around the scattered parts, and bent over, peering up at him. "Whats the matter Anakin? I know you fix things when you are upset."
He paused, looking me in the eyes, before quickly turning and walking quickly away to a different workbench. "...Nothing." I pursed my lips. This buckethead.
"Anakin I am not blind, nor am I deaf. I have been around you almost every day for the past... what, eleven years now? Yes, eleven, that's right, so if you think I will fall for your 'noothiingg' then you are sorely mista-" He cut me off.
"Its just- here, on this shavit-hole of a planet, we get more, er, closer..." As he trailed off, I thought I noticed a small redness creeping up the back of his neck, but shook my head, knowing I was imagining it.
"Anakin, what do you mean? Are we not friends back in Coruscant?" He turned, sighing at me.
"Yes, but we have much more fun when we are away from the temple. You make jokes more often; you loosen up. You let me... I guess, get away with more. Its like when I was younger. I... I miss it." He paused, before looking a bit annoyed. "In the temple its just... different. I just dont know how else to put it. Now, we are about to go back for force knows how long, and I dont know when the next time we get to be like this is going to be-"
At this point he had begun almost shouting, his words growing faster by the millisecond. All this talking made him a bit winded and ruffled, and I smiled.
Bad idea.
He chucked a screw at my head, and I ducked. "Anakin! hey- aagh!" I caught two more with the force, before nudging them back over into his hand.
"I was only smiling because I was happy you value my companionship so much. I had nearly begun to think you were getting tired of me, your boring old master." He smiled at me, before walking up to me and mussing my hair, (which he knows makes me mad) but I found myself not caring much. My head felt warm where he had touched me, and I smiled stupidly to myself as he exited behind me.
