It was still Friday, and I was going to my English class. But what's the point if I can't even think straight? The news about the car accident really got to my head, and now it was all I could think about.
I entered the class, feeling bored out of my mind. As I neared my desk, I realized there was a red post it there. I peeled it off and read the contents:
Hey, Celine. I heard about what your going through. I'm really sorry about your lost. I'd do anything to carry your burden of sorrow. But there's one thing you should know. If your feeling down, there's no where to go but up, Celine.
I read it over again, and his words really touched my heart. I sighed with a smile, looking around to see if anyone was watching. But as usual, no one was looking. This person was really good at hiding themselves.
--------------------------
I was waiting for Hannah at the door to her math class, which happened to be the closest class to the locker room, so I just leaned against one. Her math teacher takes a little while to let out her students.
So whenever Hannah and I have chemistry right after her math class, I'd just stick around and wait. Besides, I sort of hate chemistry, so I didn't really mind the wait at all.
I stood there, watching people rush by to go to their next classes. I turned my head, and there he was.
Chase Silverman.
He was on an easy, long stride, walking up the corridor. Immediately Alice's words came to my head...
Back off...or else.
I forced myself to look away from Chase, keeping my eyes on the ground. My mind started to wonder off to think about food. After all, I never ate much, so now I'm hungry. Maybe a cheeseburger after school would be nice.
I was lost in thought, until all of a sudden, I saw a pair of white Adidas come into view. I raised my eyebrows in surprise, and snapped up my head to come face to face with...
Chase.
My eyes widened as he stood there, smirking at me. His soft dark hair was perfect, and his icy blue eyes were captivating. I couldn't look away.
"Hey there," he said, flashing me his award winning smile.
"H-hi," I whispered loud enough for him to hear. I turned my head to look anywhere but his eyes. I examined the rest of his clothes. He wore a red hoodie and black jeans with his pair of white Adidas. Nice.
"So, you're checking me out, huh?" he said, giving me a sneaky smirk. I widened my eyes, helplessly blushing. I mean, was my staring that obvious?
"Don't worry about it. You look amazing, too" he said.
My blush deepened it's color. I'll be in some deep trouble if Alice catches me with him right now.
"Thanks," I mumbled. "S-so, why are y-you here?" I asked, cringing at my constant stuttering.
"Well," he started, starting to come closer to my face, closing me in by placing his hands behind me against the lockers. My breath hitched, and I was about to hyperventilate as I felt his warm breath on my face.
"You are standing in front of my locker," he said, and just like that, he backed up, making me come back to my senses.
"Oh! Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" I said, stepping away two lockers from him.
He chuckled, opening up his locker and depositing some books into it. When he was done, he turned to face me again.
"S-so look," he said. Wait...
Did he just stutter? How weird.
But then he started talking again, saying, "I know we didn't meet under the best terms and all, but...is it okay if we...start over? I mean, you seem like a nice girl and-"
"Hey, Celine!" I heard Hannah's voice. I whipped my head to see her in the distance. Hannah stopped short, realizing the scene before her. She raised her eyebrows, making an 'o' shape with her mouth, before slowly making a U-turn and heading the opposite direction.
I heard Chase chuckle, and I turned my head to face him again. "Soo, what do you say? How about we meet at the coffee shop tomorrow?" he asked.
I really hesitated. What about Alice? There's a high chance of her finding out. But then again, this is my fricking crush asking me out! Not like a date or anything. Just a friendly get-together. And on top of that, I don't wanna be rude.
"Sure," I finally said, nodding slowly.
"Awesome! How about at 4 o'clock?" he said smiling.
"Sure," I repeated. He smiled once again, before nodding his head at me and walking to his next class. I decided to head in the direction that Hannah went, and as soon as I bent the corner, she was seriously still here. I don't blame her though, cause I'd do the same thing.
Her purple eyes twinkle as she smirked at me. "Soo, you and Chase, huh?" she giggled.
"Oh come on, give me a break...but please don't tell Alice. I'd be dead meat if she found out," I wailed.
"Your secret is safe with me, so don't worry," she winked.
"And guess what? He asked me out! Not a date, not a date" I said when I saw the way her facial features were morphing into something freaky.
"Oh," she said, playfully pouting. "Celine, it still counts! You did a better job than Alice if you ask me," she said, snarling at the ground. During lunch period, before Alice arrived, Livie and I made sure to fill Hannah in with our previous fight.
"But there's still a problem," I stated, looking at the floor.
"What's up?" Hannah asked and furrowed her eyebrows.
"There is a really strong chance Alice might find out. She's gonna realize I'm missing and then she'll suspect something," I exasperated.
Hannah stared at me for a moment, and then her lips started to form a smile.
"Problem solved. Livie and I will totally cover for you. Say your going to an appointment or something," Hannah said, placing her hand on her hip.
"Umm...okay! Thanks, Hannah" I said, pulling her into a hug.
"Definitely no problem," she said. When we released each other, she held my hand and pulled me down the corridor.
"Now come on, enough with the chit chat. We're gonna be late" she said, and I chuckled at her sass.
A\N: Ayy! How are you guys?
I'm great, thanks for asking.
Anyway, I legit just finished watching Spring Breakaway, a movie that I found on YouTube, and then right after I decided to finish up this chapter.
You know the crazy thing about it all?
It's 1:40 am!
What if this Sunday was a school night?! I'd be toast. And I'm definitely not a morning person, so I rise at 2pm in the evenings😑
Btw, I'd like to hear in the comments how y'all are dealing with Covid-19, and what you do in your spare time.
And one more thing...
