It's been two days since I've been since to the principal's office. I've heard Alice got house arrested for two months and suspended for a month. Not to mention her juvenile counselling. And True and I have gotten closer with our friendship.
If Livie and Hannah never hated Alice before, they definitely hated her now. Livie went as far as to kick Alice's locker, leaving a dent. She got a two hour detention when the staff found out, but Livie said she didn't give a damn. In fact, kicking her locker was better than kicking her face, right? She claimed it helped her let off some steam.
Alice's aunt, Holly, realized that Alice and I weren't on the best of at the moment. So she made sure to give me a call to inform me of the date of the funeral of Janet and Harold...
So that's where I was going now. To a funeral.
I put my hair in a neat bun, and wore a black sleeveless fitted dress that was about two inches above my knee, and it hugged my body perfectly. I wore some dark makeup, and finished the look with my long lost locket.
You only lost it for about 23 hours, Celine.
Oh shut up. It felt like forever.
I grabbed my purse and headed downstairs, where my parents sat around the island, devouring mom's freshly baked cookies.
"Hey, guys," I greeted, opening the fridge and taking out some cornflakes and milk, before grabbing a clean bowl and spin.
"Hi sweetie. There's actually something we wanted to talk to you about," mom smiled at me.
"What's up?" I took a seat around the dinner table. I opened the milk carton and poured it unto my cereal.
"We're buying a new house," dad dropped the bomb.
Goddamn!
I stared at him, not really knowing what to say, or think for that matter. I don't know how long I've been staring at him, but then mom let out a shriek.
"Aie! No no no! Stop pouring the milk!"
I blinked, realizing that I not poured milk in the bowl, but also onto the table. And now it was dripping on the floor. How perfect. Note the sarcasm.
"Celine, now you've made a mess. And I bought the milk just last night!"
"I'm so sorry, mom. I didn't realise and-"
"Oh hush, it's fine. Just don't do that again. I'll clean it up, since you have a funeral to go to," she got off the stool, going for the mop.
"Ummm, as I was saying. We're going to buy a new house, since my promotion is practically showering me with millions, and I want to put it to good use."
"Doesn't that mean I'll have to start my life all over again? I don't want to leave Las Vegas, dad! I'm going to miss Livie and Hannah and-"
"No no no, darling. We're not moving out of the city at all. We'll just be changing districts. It's a five minute drive from here. It's a really beautiful neighborhood, and it's a really big, bold house. I'd make sure it'd look as fancy as ever...but, of course, I haven't bought it yet because I wanted to see if you liked it," he said. "So what do you say?"
"As long as I'm still living the same lifestyle with the same school and the same friends, I'll be just fine with you're idea," I smiled.
"Splendid! So how about I show you tomorrow? Are you free then?"
"Definitely," I took a spoon of my cereal. I don't mind the over-the-usual amount of milk.
