I entered the bathroom, not really having the intention to use the stalls. It's Wednesday, and today I went with a simple black and white polka dot summer dress with white flats, and last, but not least, my gold locket.
I was fixing my attire in the mirror, when I saw a familiar girl come in with a huge afro and her white hoodie.
"True? Is that you?" I joked.
She turned to face me with a smile. "Hey. What's up girl?"
What's up?
What's up?
I feel like someone tossed me into a shit hole.
That's what's up."All is well," I lied. True walked over, putting a hand on my shoulder. "Celine, your pretty predictable. At least to me," she smirked.
Of course.
I turned to face her, sighing in defeat. "Honestly, the past few days weren't the best. Remember when we first met, and what I told about Alice? You know, the girl who was about to make out with crush? Well, right now, we actually aren't on the best terms. In fact, she's been quarreling with me way more often than usual and..." I trailed off, because I realised True was giving me a horrified expression. "What's wrong?"
She blinked, as if I just pulled her out of some sort of trance. "Uhh,...okay. Look. Alice is gonna end up being a...threat," she stared carefully.
"...what?"
"She's toxic and dangerous...at least she will be. And trust me on this: I am never wrong," she said seriously.
To say she's freaking me out would be an understatement.
"What? What on earth are you talking about? Alice is harmless and timid. The most she could do is hurt my feelings," I folded my arms.
"I wouldn't say the same thing. Normally, I don't really give a damn about other people. But,...I feel deep down within me that something horrid might happen between you two. And you seem like a good person. I wouldn't necessarily want a good person to get hurt."
I thought about it. Alice and deadly are two words that don't go together at all. It's just a ridiculous idea.
"I know you might not really be believing my words. But whatever you do, please be careful," she patted my shoulder, before leaving the bathroom.
She's so unusual it scares me. Ever since we met, all she talks about is to watch out for Alice. Alice isn't scary. At least she can't scare me.
------------------------------------------
"It's crazy! I can't believe Chase ditched that bitch to see you! I mean, I totally can believe it. Who'd want to hang out around some batshit crazy freak anyway?" Livie ranted, sitting in the cafeteria. "I mean, you should've seen the look on her face when he walked away. Priceless!"
"Soo...mind telling me about that goodie waterfall yesterday?" Hannah smirked.
"Yeah. And believe it or not, that definitely ended up on schoolsniper101. Again. They took a picture of you and Chase picking up the stash. They claim in the description 'Looks like a certain couple just couldn't wait for Valentine's day.' It's pretty insane how they capture your every move with Chase," Livie stated.
"It's not like that at all. My admirer did it. Somehow he broke into my locker and stuffed it with all those goodies. Then Chase happened to be there when I opened it. But I guess it's a good thing, since he helped me out," I sighed.
"Soo...mind telling me about that process?" Hannah spoke, giggling.
"I don't know, but I when I told him about my admirer, it's almost as if he got..." I trailed off.
"Jealous?" Livie suggested.
"Protective?" Hannah chimed in.
"You could say that," I shrugged.
They squealed.
Wait a minute. Did the just squeal?
That's not something you see everyday from these people.I laughed at their reactions. Hannah stared at me for a moment, while I sipped some water.
"Hey Celine? Where's your locket? I've never seen you go anywhere without it."
I froze. What did she mean 'Where's your locket'? I'm sure I put it on today. On a scale of one to ten I'm at a hundred. A hundred percent sure.
But I looked down. And I saw nothing but the bare polka dot cloth. No locket.
I suddenly felt stiff. As if I couldn't move even if I wanted to.
Where's my locket?!That locket was really meaningful. And now it's gone. Missing. Just like that. I didn't even feel when it came off of my neck.
"I could've sworn I saw her wearing it today. I remember thinking about how nice it looked against her polka dot dress," Livie said.
"Did you lose it?" Hannah asked. But I was at lost for words.
"Maybe some one stole it. Since its real gold, it might be worth a couple thousands. If she doesn't find it in time, they might sell it," Livie said to Hannah. "I'm gonna try find a trace of where it could possibly be," I said softly. "I'll help," Hannah said, standing up.
"Me too," Livie took one last bite of her pizza.
We walked out of the cafeteria together, deciding to split up. I went back into the bathroom to start. I remember wearing it in here...
Wait a minute. This was the last place I went to. Then I went straight to the cafeteria. There's only one person I've interacted with between then. I think I know who had it. And boy, I was quite disappointed.
I stormed out of the bathroom, heading straight for the school yard. And just as I thought, she was there, reading a book just like when we first met.
She looked up at me as I neared her. And she even had the audacity to smile at me.
"Hey Celine. What's-"
"I simply cannot believe you! How can you be such a hypocrite?!" I yelled at True, who blinked at the sudden outburst.
"Celine-"
"I was actually beginning to trust you. Why the fuck did your parents name you 'True' if all you go around and do is betray people?!" I seethe.
"Celine, I think you need to calm down-"
"What the fuck? You stole my locket! My precious little locket. And you want me to calm down? Your fucking trippin'."
"I need you to listen to me! I can explain-"
"Nah nah nah. You know what? Keep it. I may have my grandparents' photo in that heart shaped locket, but as long as they're in my actual heart, that's all that matters to me," I spat. I walked off with that being my final words.
A\N: Hmm....
Do you think True stole the locket? If not, who do you think did it?
