This chapter deals with sexual assault.
"And they lived happily ever after." Mom finished up the story, and placed the book down at the corner of my bed. She looked back up to me and gave me a soft smile, one that warmed my heart every time. I gave her one back, with my teeth showing off and showing the tooth that was missing in the front.
"One more?" I asked dragging out the o, trying to convince her to the best of my ability.
She looked down at me and huffed out of her nose, shaking her head. "No more tonight. You won't be able to fall asleep." She whispered, in a soothing tone, that almost convinced me. Good thing I'm stubborn, and will barely take no for an answer.
"Could you sing a song for me then?" I smiled innocently, while batting my eyelashes. She sighed and gave me a small smile, leaning in she placed a small kiss on my forehead. She smelled like strawberry's, a smell I've grown quite fond of that always comforted me.
"I'll sing you one song, okay? Then off to bed." She motioned with her hands toward the bed, I was laying on. I smiled widely, my mom had a beautiful voice like an angels that could attract anyone. It was so angelic and peaceful that could make anyone fall to their feet.
I put my pinky finger up, waiting for her to promise me back. She chuckled lightly and stuck hers up too and wrapped it around mine. She let go and repositioned herself on the chair, dusting off the nonexistent dirt on her skirt.
"Would you like me to sing the song you love from the musical you like?" She paused. "Because Johnny Depp is in it?" She smirked at me, and held back a chuckle. What can I say? Johnny Depp was a very handsome man, that any girl could fall in love with.
"Yes, that one please." I squealed, biting my lip to stop me from jumping up and down. Her voice matched so well with the song Mrs. Lovett and Toby sang.
She exhaled and began the beautiful song. "Nothing's gonna harm you, not while I'm around. Nothings gonna harm you, no sir not while I'm around. Demons are prowling everywhere, nowadays. I'll send them howling, I don't care. I got ways. No ones gonna hurt you, no ones gonna dare. Others can desert you, not to worry whistle I'll be there. Demons will charm you with a smile, for awhile but in time, nothing can harm you, not while I'm around."
She sang some more, taking the song slow like it's supposed. The meaning of it warmed my heart and always put a smile on my face whenever she would sing it for me. I wanted to be in this moment forever, my mothers arms with her beautiful voice singing in my ear. These moments were stuff I would never take for granted, I loved them and held onto them every day. I'd think about it before I went to bed, or when doing work in school. Or when swinging on the swings at recess. Life couldn't be better.
She finished up the song and opened her eyes slowly, giving me another comforting smile. I smiled back. "Your voice is so beautiful mama." I blushed.
She let out a soft giggle, and walked over to me. She gave me a small hug, I felt like I could melt in her arms forever. She slowly pulled away and placed a soft kiss on my forehead, which I returned. "Good night Quinny." She stopped at the door. "Good night mama." I whispered loud enough for her to hear. She turned back around and closed the door behind her quietly. I heard small footsteps walk away from my door, and down the stairs.
I snuggled up into my blankets and pillows, and let out a tired yawn.

I sat up on my bed and reopened my eyes, it was a flashback.
I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around my fragile body. How did my life become to this?
One time my mom would sing for me, and kiss me on the forehead, and give me hugs when I felt sad or got hurt at school. I have to sing for myself now, and become my own savior.
Loud thumps marched up the stairs, I tried holding back my sobs as much as possible. I couldn't cry right now, there's no time for that.
The door swung open and I saw a very drunk Zach, he couldn't stand straight and was chuckling lightly. About what? No clue.
"Quinn." He drug out the n and walked over to me, stumbling on his feet a couple times before he sat down on the bed beside me.
"You never made dinner." He growled, grabbing my wrist. I was frozen in place and couldn't move, trying to wouldn't help anything anyway. It would just agitate him more.
"I'm sorry." I whispered, his gaze was making my stomach turn. I felt like throwing up, his eyes held lust and want, I didn't want that. I needed to get out of here soon. "I can go make it now." I added quickly, attempting to stand up.
Zach had other plans..
He grabbed me before I could walk away and threw me against the bed, falling straight on my back. My heart rate quickened, knowing exactly what was coming next.
I tried getting up but struggled as Zach put his body on top of mine, straddling me. "Zach please.. please get off of me." I paused, thinking of stuff to try and convince him. "I need to go and make dinner for you and mom." I added.
"I don't think so." He slurred, and I cringed. The alcohol scent was radiating off of him, and it truly disgusted me. He started unbuttoning his shirt, and my eyes widen. I thrashed around, trying to get out of his grip. My weak body was nothing compared to his strong build, he was muscled and a lot bigger than me. I tried punching his arms and chest but it didn't affect him in the slightest.
Normally my punches were powerful, and could hurt someone, but like I said he was muscled. Really muscled.
"Stop struggling." He told me through gritted teeth, I didn't listened and tried my hardest to wiggle my way out of his grip, but it was no use.
I felt his hot hand reach my face, leaving a stinging sensation from his smack. "Stop!" I screeched, I was desperate and didn't want to do this with him, not again.
"I guess I'll just have to force you to shut up." He grumbled hoarsely. I screeched at the tops of my lungs before his lips met mine. He was rough and not gently the slightest bit. His breath smelled disgusting and I seriously thought I was going to throw up in my mouth.
He was hungry and wanted more, but I kept struggling to get out of his strong grip.He let go and groaned loudly, reaching for my shirt and pulling it over my head too fast before I could even react or try to get him to stop.
I felt so revealed and disgusted with myself. You could see the bruises he had given me, littered throughout my body. They revolted me, and I hated the sight of them.
He traced his hand up and down my stomach, and up to my chest. His other hand was holding my wrists down, stopping me from punching him any more, or swatting him away.
"Please! You don't have to do this." I cried out to him, my eyes were welling up with tears, threatening to spill. I blinked them away, I couldn't let him have the satisfaction of seeing my tears.
He placed his lips on my neck, sucking roughly at it and biting it painfully.
A couple minutes passed of him enjoying my suffering and cries for him to stop, I thought he was finally done.
He brought his head up and looking into my glossy eyes. "Please stop now, before it goes too far." I choked out, trying to sound strong and not stutter.
He snickered and let out a bitter laugh, and reached down to his belt. My eyes widened and I pleaded for him to stop again but he still ignored me.
I tried my hardest to struggle out of his grip but it wouldn't work.
