Headcannon: Lloyd and Morro were best friends on the street. I know this wouldn't work out with the timeline and when Morro arrived at the Monastery, so please roll with it!

"Morro, wake up!"

Morro rolled over to face his friend. "It's too early!"

"Not really!"

Morro groaned. "Early enough."

Lloyd rolled his eyes and nudges Morro's shoulder. "Wake up!"

Morro sighed in defeat and sat up, rubbing his small eyes. "Fine, fine. I'm up."

Lloyd smiled. "Today's the day."

"Huh?"

"I was thinking of you know.. trying to be like my dad today.

"Bad idea. Really. Bad. Idea." Morro said.

"What if it's not, though? I could get closer to him or he could actually see me as his son, or-"

"Woah woh woah, back up. Of course he sees you as his son! He just, you know, is banished. If he wasn't banished he'd be right beside you."

"I was thinking about stealing food, and threatening to release the Serpentine on the village!"

Morro rolled his eyes. "Those dumb legends?"

"I mean, I think they're true. And maybe I'll be banished to the Departed Realm too and see Dad!"

Morro ruffled his friend's hair. "Give it a few more days. You don't even know if it'll work."

Lloyd scowled. "Fine. What should we do now?"

Morro's stomach growled. "I'll find us some breakfast."

Morro stood up and stretched, patting his younger friend on the head. "I'll be right back."

"Be careful!"

Morro chuckled and left the alleyway he had been sleeping in. He glanced around, looking for someone to pickpocket. He learned his lesson about stealing food a long time ago.

He saw a kid he recognized named Caleb. Caleb was always rude to Morro and Lloyd, he loved making it clear that they had nothing while he had it all. He figured he could steal a few dollars from him, not like he'd miss it.

Morro snuck over to Caleb and pretended to look for something. When he got close he slipped his hand into Caleb's pocket, trying to find a wallet or something. His hand shot back and grabbed Morro's, making him groan.

"What were you doing?"

"Walking by."

"I'm not believing that." Caleb's friend laughed.

Morro got a look at the other boys around Caleb. One of them shrugged and walked away, another shot him a sympathetic look and left. The two others snickered and grabbed Morro's wrists, pulling him into another alleyway.

Fear fell through Morro's veins. These guys were always trouble. Two of them held Morro back while Caleb beat him.

Wincing in pain, Morro tried to break free. His arm throbbed and the back of his head hurt from being slammed into the wall. He twisted an arm out of the other guy's grip and punched him in the face. Caleb slammed his fist into his throat.

Morro doubled over coughing. He was pushed to the ground as the three boys left, laughing.

Pushing himself to his feet, Morro made his way back to Lloyd.
