Nya growled to herself, adjusting the new wire again. Why wasn't it working?
"Okay, it has to work now." She pushed the button on the side and took the other piece to the other side of the room. Nya spoke into it as she pushed the button again.
It didn't work. Frustrated, she threw her hands up and glared at the new communication device.
"Why won't you work you stupid piece of junk? I've been working on you all day! Just work!"
She looked at the wiring in the first piece. "Maybe you need a new wire. I'll be right back!" She put it on her desk and ran out of the room.
Morro walked by the room, glancing inside. "Hey Nya, Kai wanted to know if-" He paused when he saw nobody was in the room. He was about to shrug and keep walking, but something caught his eyes.
He walked over to the little black communication device and looked into it. One of the wires were in the obvious wrong place. He was slightly confused on how he remembered that but he didn't mind it. Taking the tweezers she was using, he unplugged it from one spot and moved it to another. The little black pod beeped, and Morro put the tweezers down.
"What did you do?" Nya ran in and took the device, looking inside of it.
"I didn't do anything! I just fixed it, your welcome."
Nya narrowed her eyes at him but pushed the second pod into his hands. She stepped back and pushed the button, speaking into it.
"Testing, testing."
Morro pushed the button on his pod, responding to her. "It works, neat."
Nya rolled her eyes at him for his sarcasm and took the pod from him, gently setting it on her desk. Right as he was about to leave she stopped him. "How'd you know that?"
"How'd I know what?"
"To fix it. And what did you do, anyways?"
"All I did was move the wire. You had it here, I moved it here." He pointed to the spot where the wire used to be.
"Yeah, how'd you know to do that?"
Morro shrugged. "I've been alive for two years, I spent my time reading, listening to music, or tinkering with small devices."
Nya opened her mouth to ask what devices, but decided otherwise. He'd barely left his room over the past two years, Wu gave him the items he'd use or mess with. Meaning it couldn't have been too important. "And you managed to fix it with one look?"
"Yeah. It wasn't too hard. You simply had the wire in the wrong place, it's easy to overlook."
"What were you doing in my room, anyway?"
"Right. Kai wanted to know if you had any plans for today, he was thinking of going out with Skylor to check out the noodle house."
Nya shook her head. "Now that I've finished this, I have none. Why'd he need to tell me?"
"In case you wanted to go."
"Nah. I'll stay here, maybe you can join me on some of my other projects?"
"Like..?"
She got down on her knees by the bed and pulled out a box. She dug through it, mumbling to herself.
Glancing inside of it, Morro was confused. It was a bunch of broken devices and wires. Why'd she need those? "What are we doing with that?"
"I was thinking of making communication pods for everyone on the team. That means you too. The one you just fixed was Jay's, he broke it on accident and I had to work on it." She pulled out some wiring and black pods, looking at them before handing them to Morro. "There. We just have to make one more and then connect it with the others, then it'll be done!"
Morro spent the rest of the afternoon with Nya, working on the communication pod. He was so interested in it that he forgot to tell Kai that Nya was busy, although it wasn't much of a problem, Kai came by to see what was going on and he saw them working together. Nya wasn't starting a fight, Morro wasn't picking one, they were working together. He was glad Morro had connected with the whole team.
