So this is going to be two parts but it one chapter. It'll make sense, I think. If you have any questions comment them, I'm hoping this makes sense! First half happens before season five, after season four but before season five. I'll put a notice before the next part that says where it came from. Again, if you have any questions go ahead and ask.

Sensei Wu was in his room, like he is every Day of the Departed. All the ninja were out, spending time with the family they had left. All except one.

Lloyd had been spending time with his mother. They were going to pay respects to his grandfather and father but Wu seemed... busy.

"Mom? Why does Uncle Wu always go into his room on Day of the Departed, rather than spend time with us?"

"Wu has secrets, ones I don't even know. Try talking to him, maybe he'll open up to you."

"Are you sure?" Lloyd glanced over at the picture of his father and the lantern his mother had lit for him. "I can ask tomorrow-"

"Go ahead, son. It'll give me time to make some of those dumplings Garmadon loved." Misako smiled before heading towards the kitchen. Lloyd sighed, realizing he had to ask now.

Lloyd knocked on Wu's door, he noticed his uncle's muffled voice cut off at the same time he knocked. "Who is it?"

"It's Lloyd. I had a question."

"What is it?"

"Could I come in?" Lloyd asked.

Wu hesitated. "I'm... busy."

"With what? You always disappear into your room on Day of the Departed and you don't tell anybody what's going on. Is there something wrong?"

Lloyd heard sigh from his uncle's room. He pushed open the door slowly, pausing once he saw what was on a table.

There was a lit lantern and a picture of his grandfather on one table. On another there was a lit lantern and a picture of a boy he didn't recognize. The boy had black hair, one stripe of it was a natural green. He was grinning, and standing beside Wu. He wasn't looking at the camera, he was looking up at Wu, and Lloyd saw a look in his eyes that he recognized.

The boy respected and loved Wu. His look reminded Lloyd of how he looked at his father before his sacrifice.

Wu was sitting in between the tables holding a cup of tea. His eyes were on the photo, and Lloyd noticed more pictures of the same boy.

A picture of him flying a kite, without a string, somehow.

A picture of him with a butterfly sitting on his finger, he looked surprised and interested all at once.

A picture of him hugging a dark green dragon plushie, it reminded Lloyd of the one he doesn't sleep with, the one he just had for some reason. The only difference was that Lloyd's was a lighter green color.

A picture of him training with a punching bag, he didn't seem to notice Wu taking the photo.

Then there was a picture of him just smiling at the camera, alone. He wasn't looking directly at the camera, but behind it.

"Uncle Wu? Who is that?"

Wu paused. "He is... he is of no importance. He's departed now, you will not get the chance to see him."

"You seem to care about him, he must be important to you."

"He is." Wu's voice was shaking, like he was fighting tears. Lloyd had never seen his Sensei this upset, it frightened him. "He was so much to me, and just like that he was gone. I didn't learn he was dead until a few years after, I'd thought- I'd thought-"

"You don't have to, you don't have to talk about him." Lloyd took a seat beside him and Wu poured him a cup of tea. "Go ahead, pay your respects."

Wu looked at the picture of the boy and a sad smile formed on his face. "I hope everything is doing well, Morro."

Here's that notice I mentioned! The rest of this story happens after season five but before season six. Enjoy!

Misako sighed, glancing over at Wu's door. It was shut, and Wu was behind it. Morro had just been sent back to the departed realm, and she knew her brother in law missed him.

Lloyd was shaken up. It hurt Misako to see her son in this condition, the wind made him shiver and the mention of Morro made him flinch. He was getting better, but it would take time.

"Mom, let's go do the lantern for Dad." Lloyd smiled as he walked over to her, holding an unlit lantern and a photo of her husband. Misako nodded and the two went outside, lighting and releasing their lantern.

-

Lloyd watched the lantern fade into the sky, out of view. He smiled at it, missing his father.

"Lloyd, do you want to go start the dumplings?" Misako asked.

"Actually, I had another idea. I'm going to talk to Uncle Wu."

"Are you certain? After, well, you know?"

Lloyd nodded. "Yeah. I'm sure."

Misako couldn't stop him. She let him go to Wu's room.

Lloyd knocked on the door, hesitating slightly.

"Lloyd?"

"Yeah, it's me. Could I come in?"

Wu didn't answer, so Lloyd pushed the door open to see what he expected. Two tables, one dedicated to his father, one to Morro.

"I apologize, nephew. I understand he hurt you greatly, but I cannot possibly forget him. I took him in, raised him. He was a son to me."

"Don't apologize, Uncle Wu." Lloyd sat down and put  a hand on Wu's shoulder. "No matter what he did, you cared for him. You loved him. You'd be a great dad for him, too. You don't have to be sorry that you're paying respects for him."

Wu smiled up at Lloyd sadly. "If only he had changed. If he had looked at the situation in the good way, he could still be here."

"Maybe you'll see him again."

"I hope so, nephew. I hope."
