Chapter XXIX

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

"We are going to have to dispose of Kimblee and his men." Miles said sternly. Ed tried to protest to killing the two men Kimblee had with him but it fell on dead ears. The soldiers split into groups to search the place for the others. One of the officers that new of our plans pretended to be Al, meaning he was stuffed inside a heavy suit of armor.

We followed Kimblee down to the mining shaft. Snipers put in place and waiting for an opening. Ed and I walked up to Kimblee, basically ignoring the plan.

"You should let the Briggs soldiers check here and take your men and search the tunnels." Ed suggested.

"You are trying to divert my search. Now I know I am in the right place." Kimblee said with his usual smirk. Ed tried to reason with him more but to no avail.

"You are just trying to buy more time so your snipers can get in place." Kimblee said.

"You knew about that?" Ed asked.

"I can practically smell the murderous intent in the air." Kimblee said looking me dead in the eyes. Kimblee rose his hands in the air and slammed them down on the snow, creating a thick fog.

"Kimblee!" Ed shouted seeing Kimblee walking off. As we tried to pursue him claws came at us. I shielded myself with my arm....the flesh one. I groaned at the new wound but quickly recovered thanks to my abilities.

"Damn, this was my favorite hoodie." I said looking at the two chimeras in front of us. Ed and I stood there, not being able to see them as they moved. I dodged an attack to my jugular but Ed didn't see it coming and was grabbed.

"Ed!" I shouted wanting to get over there to help him. I heard the splutter of blood and smelt the new wound to the Chimera. I dodged another attack after another not finding an opening. I heard Miles shout into the fog.

"No, stay out there!" Ed warned them. I heard the crunch of snow then Ed yelling, seemingly falling downwards. I quickly dashed towards the sound and jumped down to catch Ed. I managed to grab hold of him and flip us around so I took most of the impact. I coughed a bit as the dust cleared.

"Karma, why did you do that?! You are so reckless!" Ed shouted using his arms to hold himself above me. I heard my bones crack and pop back into place and let my gaze meet his.

"Only one of us can die, Ed. If I can do it, i will protect you." I said then sat myself up. We got up and readied ourselves for the arrival of the Chimera.

Ed quickly threw me a few sticks of dynamite then told me to plug my nose. Ed asked the two beasts what dynamite was made of then they finally noticed what this was leading to. Ed and I both created a cloud of Pneumonia around us, rendering the animals useless.

"What is that awful smell?" Kimblee asked as the cloud rolled deeper into the mine.

"Pneumonia, their strong sense of smell has a downfall too. I doubt they will be of any use to you now." Ed said. Kimblee brought out the crystal philosopher stone ready to fight but I quickly ran up and kicked it out of his hand and sent a few other attacks which he only blocked.

"Your behavior is different now that I no longer have a hostage." Kimblee said.

"What did you think was gonna happen?" Ed asked then as Kimblee was ready to use his alchemy Ed swiped at his hand.
