Alex's p.o.v

I came home after the race and noticed a red lambo parked in our front yard. I went inside and found my sister in the living room eating some popcorn.

"Nice ride you got there!"

"Not mine!" She said. "It's Annie's car!"

"Who is Annie again?" My brain wasn't functioning. The only girl in my mind right now was the one I raced against.

"My best friend, Shawn's cousin!" She rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, right! Anyway, I'm going to hop in the shower and I'll be back." I told her and went to my room.

After I showered and got dressed, I still had time to kill so I called Shawn.

"Look who finally decided to give his bro a call!"

"I'm good, thanks!" I replied sarcastically and he laughed.

"You're in a good mood! What? You have a hot date already?" Now, I laughed.

"Not yet!" I sighed.

"Who's the unlucky girl?" He asked.

"Someone I met at the tracks tonight!" I smiled remembering her reaction when I challenged her into a race.

"You went to the tracks without me?!" He gasped.

"Stop acting like a kid for 5 minutes and listen!"

"Damn, you got it that bad, huh?" He joked.

"Shawn!" I warned.

"Okay, okay! Tell me about this girl! What does she look like?" He asked.

"She had long brown hair and captivating brown eyes that kept testing me. And don't get me started on the way she raced!" I reminisced.

"Wait, she's a racer?" He sounded surprised.

"Yes! She was a natural, as if she were born there!"

"Now I'm intrigued! What's her name?"

"That's why I called you! I was hoping you could do some research for me about her!" I said and I could hear him typing on his keyboard. Then he stopped. "What happened?"

"What type of car was she racing?"

"She didn't have her car with her, so she raced with her friend's SSC Tuatara. Why?"

"They are only two racers who match your description, but neither of them were there tonight!" What?! If she wasn't a racer, what was she? And more importantly, who was she?

"Bloody hell!" I cussed under my breath.

"Alex, we have to go!" I heard Angela yell from the hallway and I groaned.

"We will talk more about this during dinner!" I told Shawn and hung up.

I went outside and got in my car, while my parents and my sister got in dad's car. I needed some time alone to think about how I could find her

We arrived earlier than the Carsons, so  we took our time on choosing our seats. Dad was sitting next to mom on my left side while Angela sat on my right side.

Since I was seated at the head of the table, it provided me a full view of the restaurant's entrance. The door opened revealing my mysterious racer.

"So we meet again, princess!" I greeted her once she approached the table and took the seat next to my sister.

"I see you have  already met!" Shawn gave us a sceptical glance.

"Yes!" She simply said. I hadn't noticed before how soft her voice was.

"Good evening! I'm Alan and I'll be your waiter for the night. Are you ready to order or do you need more time?" The waiter approached us.

"No, we're ready!" We all said in unison and the waiter nodded.

"I'll have spaghetti puttanesca!" She ordered and I made a mental note.

"I'll have the same!" I said and she eyed me suspiciously.

What are you up to?  Her eyes seemed to ask.

Nothing, just ordering dinner! I smiled innocently at her and I felt a kick to my leg.

I turned to my side and dad gave me the side eye, warning me silently to not bother her.

"Your cousin has quite the ride, Shawn!" I took a bite from my plate.

"Yes, I do!" She smiled proudly.

"Wait a minute!" I put my fork down. "You're his cousin?"

"Yep!" She said not popping the 'p'.

"But you don't look anything alike?" I was confused. She couldn't be his cousin.

"I have the same hair as my father!" She defended.

"What about your eyes? I know for a fact that uncle Aiden had blue eyes!" I shook my head.

Just my luck! I finally meet someone who challenges me and they're off limits. By the look Shawn was throwing me, I knew I had a punch coming.

"Mystery!" She shrugged and drank from her glass.

"And how did you meet exactly?" Shawn asked and Annie panicked.

"Mystery!" I replied and she vividly relaxed.

You have some explaining to do, princess!  I turned to her.

Can you stop calling me that?  She glared at me.

I will never!  I smiled at her.
