Chapter nineteen

Annie's p.o.v

"Put some clothes on for the love of God!" I demanded seeing Alex's shirtless reflection on the silver pot.

It was his birthday and I wanted to cook something for him. Supposedly, I meant to prepare breakfast, but due to him waking up at noon and my terrible cooking skills, I ended up making lunch.

"What are you cooking?" He snuggled behind me wrapping his hands on my waist and resting his head on my neck.
"Chicken skampi!" I said turning off the stove. 

"Hmm, delicious!" He kissed the nape of my neck.

"What's that smell?" Shawn walked in hand in hand with Angela.

I needed to talk to my best friend. With everything going on, we haven't been able to have a proper conversation.

"My girlfriend is making me lunch!" Alex stated proudly.

"Annie is cooking?!" Shawn fake panicked. "Please call the ambulance beforehand! I'm too young to die like this!"

"And stupid too! It would be a shame!" Alex shook his head with pursed lips.

Laughter filled the air as I began setting the table. I was nervous and eager to know his opinion about my cooking skills.

Wait a minute! Me, worrying about someone's opinion about my terrible attempts at cooking? What was happening to me?

It's not just anybody!

No, he wasn't!

"Enjoy!" I sat down next to Alex.

He took a bite and I felt as if Gordon Ramsey was judging me on Food Network. When Alex put his hand on my knee, I realised I had been shaking my leg.

"It's perfect!" He gave me his billion dollar smile.

"Thank you!" I blushed when he kissed my cheek.

"You sure you're okay, buddy?" Shawn taunted and I gave him the finger.

"I'm great!" Alex shrugged.

"Out of your mind would be more appropriate!" Shawn scoffed.

"I have a surprise for you!" I whispered to Alex.

"Must be my lucky day!" He whispered back.

Getting up, I went to my room to grab my gift for him. Running down the stairs, I was careful not to drop it.

"There you go!" I gave it to him once I sat down. "And don't you dare say some cheesy things or quote 'The Vampire Diaries'!"

"I'll try!" He chuckled opening the box.

I was more excited than a child on Christmas day waiting to open their present. I hadn't slept last night waiting for the gift to arrive.

"Oh God! It's a Nikon D850 camera!" His eyes lit up like Christmas lights.

"You like it?" I shyly asked.

"Are you serious?" He turned to me. "I love it! I have been wanting to get one since I came here!"

"There's more!" I pointed at the brochures on the bottom of the box.

"Tattoos?!" He shook his head in disbelief and I nodded.

"I don't deserve you!" Alex pulled me in his embrace. 

"We never really know, so why not just enjoy it?" I shrugged.

"Get a room, or better yet the entire hotel!" Shawn joked and we laughed.
