Chapter 35

After hanging out with Lucas for a couple hours, he gave me a ride home.

I walked through the front door and ran up the stairs to my bedroom.

As soon as I got there, I shut my door for privacy purposes and was laying on my bed.

I suddenly remembered that Riley got home from vacation and decided to FaceTime her.

As soon as her face popped up, I said "heyyy."

It feels like we haven't talked since when I was in the hospital.

"Hey Maya! Glad to see your feeling better." She said brightly.

I nodded, even though I was better a week ago.

"What's up?" I asked.

She shrugged. "Nothing much."

What I did notice though is that Riley hasn't stopped smiling since we started this conversation.

"Why so smiley Riley?" I said, rhyming on purpose.

"That obvious?" She said.

"Yep."

She took a deep breath and said, "Farkle and I are back together!"

I had totally forgotten that they broke up.. Because of missy. I made a face.

"I'm so happy for you." I said.

I kept talking. "Missy isn't even in this state anymore, isn't that great?"

Riley looked at me confused. "What? Yeah she is..."

"Huh?"

"I saw her with her parents getting a taxi an hour ago." Riley said, nodding.

Suddenly, knots started forming in my stomach and all the hallucinations came to me

"Uh I gotta go Riley." I said stuttering a little.

Riley didn't seem to notice the stuttering and waved. "Okay talk to you later!"

"Bye..."

I slowly pressed the "end call" button and put my phone on its charger.

I then walked over to the window and stared out at the trees and houses.

A big tree was in the way so I could barely see much...

I gulped to myself and then walked to my bed.

Missy is still in town...
