Chapter 144

   Three days later, James and I were laying in bed. "I love you baby." "I love you too!" I mentioned. My phone starts buzzing. "Who is it?" "I'm not sure." I look at my phone, "It's Maddie." "It's 4 in the morning!" "I know." I mentioned. 'Hello?' 'Grace, I'm on my way to the hospital. It's time!' 'Okay. I'm calling mom so she can get here! I'm on my way!' I hung up. "Maddie's in labor." "Awe!" I called mom, 'Hello?' 'Hey can you come over fast? Maddie is in labor!' 'Yeah. I'm on my way.' I got up, got dressed, and got in the car. I passed mom on the way to the hospital.
   When I walked in, Jason and Susan were waiting on me in the waiting room. "Hows she doing?" "She's mad." said Susan. "Why?" "Because it hurts." said Jason. I laughed. We went back there, "Hey honey." "Why didn't you tell me it hurt this bad?" She asked. "Well I mean this is your second kid." "I forgot it was this bad!" "What did the doctor say? How long have you been in labor?" I asked. "She's been contracting since 10." Jason mentioned. "You just came in?" I asked. "Yeah." She replied. "What did the doctor say?" "She's at a 6." "Almost there! Sweet!" "Have they given you the epidural yet?" "Yes! Right before you got here." She mentioned. "Is it helping?" I asked. "No!" She replied. "Give it some time. It'll help and you'll feel better!" I mentioned.
"Grace oh my gosh it hurts." "It's not supposed to feel great." I chuckled. "How do you have six kids?" Maddie asked. "It's what happens when he's going in raw." I mentioned. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket, and texted James. 'Still no baby. Can you make sure the kids get to school? They have to study for the act.' James replied, 'Sure thing babe. I love you!' 'I love you too.'
About an hour later, the doctor came in to check on Maddie. "You're at a 10. This next contraction I'm going to need you to push!" I grabbed Maddie's hand, while Jason had the other hand. Maddie pushed, several times, then they finally laid Garret Wayne on her chest. "Good job momma!" I mentioned. The doctors took him, and got him cleaned up and weighed and all. "I couldn't tell if I was pushing or not." Maddie mentioned, I laughed. They brought Garret back in, "Do you want to hold him?" Maddie asked. I grabbed Garret from her. "Hey sweet boy!"
   I held him for a little bit, then gave him back to Maddie. I texted James telling him to come meet his nephew. A little while later, James knocked on the door, then walked in. "Hey Jason, hey Maddie." James said. "Hey JayJay!" Jason exclaimed, while handing Garret to him. James held Garret for a little while, then we gave him back and got our stuff. "Y'all leaving?" Jason asked. "Yeah. Maddie needs to rest, and y'all need to spend time with that sweet baby!" "Okay. Thank y'all for coming and thanks for helping Grace!" said Maddie. "No problem. Thank you for letting me be apart of this!" I exclaimed.
Me and James walked down to the lobby. "Do you want another one?" James asked. "Yes and no." "No?" James asked. "I mean I would love another one. I've been wanting another one since Bennett started walking. We already have 6 kids James." "I know and we're grateful to have them!" "I know. I'm not saying anything bad about having 6 kids. I'm just saying that's a lot on the kids, and us! Besides another three or four years and Nicole and Silas will be out of the house." I mentioned. "I guess you're right. As much as I want another baby, I guess we'll just wait for grandkids." said James.
We got in the truck, and started to head home. "I'm going to take a nap when we get home." "Yeah you need too." James mentioned. "Are you going to take one too?" I asked. "Yeah I might." "Can we run by moms first?" James asked. "Sure. Crap I might just take a nap there."
Once we got to Susan's house, we got out and went inside. "What are y'all doing here?" Susan asked. "James said he needed to stop by. I'm going to go take a nap." I mentioned. I walked upstairs, and laid in bed. I turned on the tv, and covered up. I turned my ringer on, and then went to sleep.
About an hour later, I woke up. I went to the bathroom, then went downstairs. "Did you also good?" Susan asked. "Yes. I needed that nap!" Susan chuckled. "Well we better get to the house, the kids will be getting home in just a minute." Susan hugged my neck. "Love ya." "Love you too." She hugged James, and then we got in the truck and went over to the house.
   "Mom just texted. She's on her way over with Bennett." I mentioned. "Okay." said James. We got out of the truck, and walked into the house. Not much longer, the kids walked in the house. Nicole put her stuff on the table, and walked into my room. "Nicole what's wrong?" "Im on my period. I'm cramping and I'm aggravated." "Why are you aggravated?"
I asked. "The dang kids on the bus are annoying." She mentioned. "When did you start?" I asked. "Three days ago."  "Okay. Here take you some medicine, and go lay down on the couch." I told her.
   Nicole took the medicine, and went and sat on the couch. "How was y'all's day?" I asked Faith and Presley. "It was good." Faith said. "I had fun! And I made an A on my spelling test!" Presley exclaimed. "Good job baby! I'm so proud of you!" I said while giving her a hug. "How was your day Silas?" I asked. "It was alright. I joined the football team." "You did?" I asked. "Yeah. I have practice tomorrow." Okay! You and dad can run out and get what you need after dinner okay?" "Okay mom." Carson came and gave me a hug. "How was school?" I asked. "It was good." "Just good?" I asked. "Yeah." "What did you make on your spelling test?" I asked. "I made a B." "That's good bubba!" I exclaimed. He hugged me tighter. I picked him up, and loved on him. "I love you." I said. "I love you too momma."
   I put him down, and he went and sat on the couch by Nicole. Mom walked in, with Bennett. "There's mommas boy!" I said while grabbing him from mom. I kissed him, and then I put him down. He ran into the living room to James. "How's it going?" Mom asked. "It's going." I said. "Alright well I better get going. Jordan is at home waiting for me." Okay I said while giving her a hug bye. Mom grabbed her bag, and left.
