A/N: A sweet mother-child imagine. Regina was such a good mum. I lowkey ship Regina and Emma both platonically and romantically. Kinda sad they didn't do that, but meh. Have softness.

The clacking of the keys on the computer sounded out as Y/N worked. Their fingers flew across the board with ease and precision as they wrote. Pausing in thought every once in a while, they gathered their thoughts.

Carefully, the door creaked open. Regina peeked in. She smiled as she watched her child work on their laptop. They sat against the wall, their back pressed squarely against it. Pillows were propped against the other wall on their bed and all the blankets were pushed to the end of the bed, almost falling off.

Y/N squinted at the computer screen, scowling. A few clicks from the mousepad later and the scowl deepened. Sighing, they leant their head against the wall and closed their eyes.

"Everything okay?" Regina asked.

Y/N opened their eyes, turning towards her. They shrugged. "It's just frustrating. I know what I want to say and how to argue my thesis statement, but I can't seem to write it down."

Regina chuckled, sitting down on her kid's bed. "Maybe you should take a break and come back to it?"

"I need to finish the first draft before the day is over," Y/N said, turning back to the computer.

Regina frowned. "Y/N, dinner has been ready for an hour. You need to eat. No essay is important enough to skip eating."

Y/N ignored her and started writing again. Regina wouldn't take no for an answer and started to slowly close the laptop.

"Wait, no. Mom, no, stop," Y/N said, pleading. They rushed to finish their sentence before she closed it on their hands.

They glared at her as she took the laptop away. "Don't look at me like that. It's for your own good," she said. She got up and tucked the laptop under her arm.

"But, Mom, I need to finish!"

"You can finish later," Regina said. "Now come on, downstairs." She gestured to the door.

Begrudgingly, Y/N got up and started to leave.

"If I don't finish the first draft tonight, I'm blaming you," they said.

Regina laughed shook her head. "I love you, too, Y/N."
