A/N: Ah, yes, fluffiness. I like it.
CW: Mentions of abuse and drugs.

You stepped out of the shower and snatched up a towel. Quickly, you dried yourself off with the scratchy cloth. You'd have to get some new towels soon.

Though you wished to go to fall into your bed and sleep, you still had to eat and finish the dishes.

Getting dressed and wiping the fog from the mirror, you took care of your hair.

You scanned the room, trying to spy any rogue dishes or utensils. To yourself, you hoped that was the last of them, not wanting to spend any more time that you could be using to sleep to clean. Thankfully, none were found.

Satisfied with the lack of dirty dishes, you headed to your room, turning off lights as youwent.

Before you could get comfortable, a knock came at the front door. A loud one at that.

You groaned, trying to ignore it. Even pulled your pillow over your head.

That didn't work.

The person kept incessantly knocking.

Finally, you walked to the door, exhausted and ready to kill.

Opening it up, the most annoying person in the world stood. His fist was raised like he was going to start knocking again.

"Hi," he said.

You rolled your eyes. "Hi."

"What ya doin'?"

You sighed, moving to the side. "Inside."

He happily obliged, eyeing the dimmed apartment. He swung around as you shut the door. "You didn't answer my question."

"I'm tired, Kai. It's my bedtime."

Kai nodded in understanding.

"Can I stay over?" He asked. Picking at his nails, he looked down then back up at you.

You shrugged, mumbling out an "I don't care."

It was normal for Kai to come over in the dead of night, well the dead of night for you. He had a habit of fighting with his family over whatever his dad wanted to nitpick and over-analyze that day. Usually, Kai would keep you up until the crack of dawn just by constantly talking. Today, he refrained from it. Meaning that the fight must have been horrible.

When the fights were bad, he'd talk but not much. Sometimes he'd stay over and stare at the ceiling, you next to him, sleeping like a rock.

The thuds of Kai's boots followed the padding of your bare feet. An unusual amount of silence was cast between you two. For whatever reason, once you got to the opened door of your room, Kai mumbled something under his breath.

You turned, looking over your shoulder. "What did you say?"

"What?' He looked at you, innocence etched into his face. A fake innocence. "I didn't say anything.

You crossed your arms. "I'm not that stupid, Malachai Parker. Now tell me what you mumbled before I kick you out." If you want to get an answer, you gotta be direct with this boy.

Kai sighed. "I said, I shouldn't be here."

You pursed their lips, swallowing hard. "If you don't want to be here, then why did you---"
