02 - Love and Hate

Taehyung sits by the window still and looks out as the stranger next door goes out, right on time. Taehyung can only assumes it's for work. This is how his mornings start ever since he saw him.

He can't believe he still doesn't know his name, but Taehyung has been scared talk to him after that first encounter where he and Jimin practically ran out of his house.

"What are you doing there?" He heard the door opening and his brother's voice came out.

"Nothing." Taehyung replied with a sigh as the stranger is long gone on his bike.

"Well, come for breakfast." Jin said in concerned voice.

"Yeah, I'll come in a minute hyung."

Jin walked in to the dining room looked at his husband who was reading the paper as usual.

"Joonie.."

"Hmm...."

"Something's wrong with Tae."

"What do you mean?" Namjoon put down his paper.

"Well he's moody, rarely smiles, he's been waking up on his own and stares out of the window in the morning, every day."

"Out the window?"

"Yeah. I think he's checking out the guy next door."

"Really? You think Tae has a crush on him?"

"I don't know. Whatever it is, it's not going well. Tae is not happy."

Their conversation was cut short as they heard the boy coming in to the room.

"Good morning hyungs." Taehyung greeted them but there wasn't the usual merriment in his voice.

Jin looked at his husband and Namjoon raised his eyebrows too. Something is definitely not right.

"How are you doing Tae bear? How's work?" Namjoon asked in a gentle voice.

"Huh... oh!! Good, I guess. There's not much people these days so work is not that tiring. We mostly sit and chat in the night. Not much work." Taehyung replies in a flat tone.

"That's good." Namjoon is lost at what to say.

They finish the rest of the breakfast in silence and Namjoon goes off to work.

"I'll be leaving in a while too hyung. Jimin said he wanted to get his computer fixed or something and I'm gonna head out to his house." Taehyung says as he help his hyung wash the dishes.

Jin just hums in acknowledgement.

Taehyung and Jimin goes to the local tech shop and the guy there smiles at them.

"Tae! Chim! How are you guys?" The owner of the tech greets them enthusiastically.

"Hey Gyeomie.. my laptop is broken." Jimin says with pout.

"Yeah.. what happened to it?" Yugyeom asked as he took the computer from Jimin's hand.

"Well if we knew that, we wouldn't be coming here right?" Taehyung replied with a wink.

"Alright you brats, I'll take it. Got myself a new assistant." Yugyeom says as he wiggles his eyebrows. "Yo Jungkook!! Customer here."

Taehyung and Jimin looks in shock as Jungkook walks in from the back room.

"Hey."

Jimin elbowed Taehyung as he seems to have frozen on the spot.

"H-hi." Taehyung mentally facepalmed himself for stuttering.

"So?" Jungkook looks at them expectantly.

"Oh yeah!! My laptop doesn't work." Jimin says as he wanted to save his friend from further embarrassment.

"Did anything happened to it physically? Any damage?" Jungkook asks as he tries to switch it on.

"Uhh... not that I know of. I mean it fell few times but nothing recently."

"Ok. I'll check it. Do you have the shop's number? Give a call on day after tomorrow and I'll give you an update." Jungkook says as he steal a glance at the other boy standing there.

"Cool." Jimin says and he looks at his friend, as if silently asking him to say something too. But Taehyung just stares at the floor with occasionally stealing glances at the man.

Jimin sighs and drags his friend out of the shop after they say their goodbyes to Yugyeom. Once they were out of sight from the shop, Jimin turns to Taehyung.

"What the hell Tae?! Why didn't to talk to him. It was a perfect opportunity." Jimin looked bit angry.

"I-I w-was scared Jiminie. I d-didn't want him to s-scold m-me." Taehyung says with a scared look.

"You must really like this guy huh. I've never seen you shy or scared around anyone." Jimin says worriedly and Taehyung nods his head.

"Ok, you can talk when we go to pick up my laptop, and maybe we should talk with Yugyeom more, you know. So that he will know we are friends with Gyeomie. He will not dare to be rude to his boss's friend right. Although, he was not rude today also." Jimin says as he tries to lift his friend's spirits.

"Yeah, atleast I got to know his name." Taehyung finally smiles.

Jungkook... Jungkookie.. Kookie..

Today is Taehyung's day off and he was out in the garden in the evening, totally coincidently, when Jungkook came home. Taehyung debated with himself for few seconds and then decided that he should go for it.

He leaned over from the fence with a small smile as Jungkook got down from his bike and removed his helmet.

Jungkook felt Taehyung looking at him and involuntary turned his head towards the boy.

"H-hi." Taehyung hated himself for stuttering like that.

Jungkook looked at him for few seconds before going inside the house without replying.

Taehyung felt himself tearing up and quickly ran to his room. He didn't want Jin to worry. He closed his door and let himself fall to the bed. Before he knew it, few drops of tears has already fallen on his cheeks.

'Jungkook talked with Jimin normally at the shop today. He's only ignoring me.' Taehyung thought to himself bitterly.

'What did I do to make him hate me this much?'

Taehyung softly cried for the first time after meeting Jungkook. While Taehyung seems to have fallen in love at first sight, Jungkook seems to have fallen in hate.

April 5th.

I think I made Taehyung cry today Yoona. I saw him in the morning, he always sits by the window when I go to work. I don't think he saw me though. I met him again at the shop I work at. He came with his friend. Did you see the way he was looking at me with all shy and an open mouth? It was cute. I'm glad he has his friend to save him. He must have felt embarrassed. And then, I was caught off guard when he said hi to me this evening, looking so nervous. And I shut the door in his face, again. I saw him running inside the house and I think I made him cry. But I can't let him get close to me, right Yoona? He has no place in the hell I'm living in.
