All 7 of them, plus Hoseok's girlfriend Rose, were having a picnic.

It was actually Jimin's and Taehyung's idea and others agreed cheerfully too. They haven't got together after Taehyung's birthday dinner so picnic seemed like a good idea.

The food was prepared by Jin and Rose and Jungkook helped too. Jimin brought some stuff from his home also. Together they went to this beautiful field which was a perfect spot for a picnic.

Currently Jimin, Taehyung, Namjoon, Hoseok and Rose were playing with a  ball in the field while Jin, Yoongi and Jungkook were relaxing on a blanket spread under a tree shade.

Yoongi has almost fallen asleep. That man can sleep anywhere. Jin and Jungkook were looking at the 5 grownup people, who were laughing, screaming and running around like small kids. They were so in to the game that they didn't even realise the ruckus they were making.

"We always used to play ball when we went on picnics too." Jungkook said so quietly, as if he was talking to himself.

"With your family?" Jin asked in a soft voice. He doesn't want to make Jungkook uncomfortable but since the younger initiated the conversation, it seems like appropriate.

Jungkook was silent for a while, looking in to the distance. Jin could almost see the internal battle Jungkook was having to reveal about his past.

"No. At the orphanage I grew up in." Jungkook finally gave a sigh and spoke up.

Jin tried to mask his suprise and gave a little hum. Yoongi opened his eyes a bit and shared a quick glance with Jin before closing them again.

Jungkook noticed both their reactions and chuckled a bit.

"It's fine hyung. It was a good place. The people there took very good care of the children. I was happy there." Jungkook looked at Jin and got a tiny nod in response.

"You know, I always wonder what happened to you Kook." Jin said with a sad smile.

"I know you do. All of you do. And I also know that you will be very sad if you knew about it. I don't want any of you to be sad. The last time Taehyung found out something he seemed to have cried for hours. " Jungkook replied with a sigh.

"Taehyung found out something?" Jin asked curiously.

"Yeah... I never want to see him cry like that." Jungkook said in a painful voice.

Jin was curious to ask more but he knew he can't. He didn't want to pressure Jungkook in to something he doesn't want to do. What matters is his present and his future. The future in which his own brother will hopefully be a big part.

They were silent for a while and it was broken by loud laughter as the others came after finishing their game.

"Kookie..." Taehyung whined as he laid down next to Jungkook and rested his head on Jungkook's lap.

"Hmm...what happened baby?" Jungkook asked as he stroked the younger's hair gently.

"We lost Kookie. Hobi hyung and Rose won. Jimin was terrible." Taehyung whined again, giving a menacing glance to his best friend.

"Yah!!! I was not!! That game is stupid." Jimin retorted from where he was sitting next to Yoongi.

"Stupid??!! You can't even catch the ball properly with your small fingers!!." Taehyung yelled back.

"Come here you little-"

Yoongi had to grab Jimin from his waist to prevent him from kicking Taehyung and Jungkook wrapped his hands around Taehyung's body to stop him from getting up.

"Alright you two, that's enough." Jin said sternly while Hoseok, Rose and Namjoon howled with laughter. They all know the fights these two friends have is not real ones. They love eachother too much to have a real fight.

Jungkook bent down to give a forehead kiss to Taehyung which seems to have calmed down the younger and he snuggled more into Jungkook body. But that could also be because Taehyung was trying to hide his now tomato red face

"Come on, let's eat." Jin opened up the containers he brought, filled with delicious food and everyone hurried to eat.

Two friends forgot their fight in a minute as they giggled over a weirdly shaped fried squid. Jungkook couldn't help but coo at the innocent and childish behaviour of his boyfriend.

Taehyung kept his head on Jungkook's lap while the elder feed him his lunch. Everytime Jin told Taehyung to get up and let Jungkook eat peacefully, Jungkook gave a reassuring smile to the younger and kept on feeding him. Taehyung went as far as sticking his tongue out to Jin and Jin rolled his eyes in response.

They enjoyed a quite time while they eat, interrupted by occasional small talk. Jungkook never really noticed how smart and educated Namjoon is. He seem to be knowing about almost everything.

After lunch, everyone laid down and relaxed in the shade. It was a peaceful sight. 8 grownup people, sleeping in a field without a single worry in the world.

Jungkook felt happy to be part of a normal thing like a picnic with friends. There was a time he didn't even get out of the house in the day time.

But even as he laid peacefully among friends, he couldn't help but feel a tiny worry in the back of his mind. Everything seems to be going really well. Things were perfect. It almost felt too good to be true and that feeling, scared the fell out of Jungkook. It felt too much like the calm before the storm.

A/N - so guys I made few changes to the story line. I don't know whether you guys noticed it or not but there were few subtle hints in the earlier chapters about Jungkook and Yoona running together. But the more Yoona's character developed, I realised that she was never a one to run. So now her death is the starting point of the race to survival. Early chapters edited on 26/08/2020 so if you started after that, you're good.
