I opened my eyes to find myself in the stereotypical kidnap victim's position—bound with rope and sitting in a chair with a blindfold over my eyes. I would've laughed had I not actually been in a possibly life-threatening situation.
My veins immediately flooded with fear and I shuddered. I strained my ears to hear something, but all I heard besides deafening silence was distant water dripping and my own breathing. It was terrifying.
I fidgeted, blinking furiously and pulling at my bound wrists. I hated how my eyelashes brushed the blindfold, and how it was thin enough to let some light in, especially at the top and the bottom, but I honestly couldn't make anything useful out. I hated how the rope pinched at my skin and itched irritatingly. Everything was driving me mad.
I decided to try and escape into my own thoughts. No one seemed to be here yet, so I might as well start thinking my way out. Or something...
Who could this possibly be? Of course that was the first thought to enter my head. And, as much as the authorities might think so, I knew Dan couldn't be my true stalker. Unless he just successfully tricked you, my mind taunted. Shut up.
This attacker was most likely the man who'd been following me in the car, talking angrily on the phone to some boss, in the first place. I sighed, thinking back to the beginning. How... surprisingly simple things seemed now.
What was this supposed to do? What was this kidnap intended to achieve? I wasn't interesting. I had never stolen, cheated, dealt with drugs, or anything illegal of the sort. In fact, the biggest trouble I'd ever gotten in was when I'd snuck out of my room to go to my friend's birthday party when I was fourteen. Or when I accidentally knocked over all of the school library's bookshelves in seventh grade. Honestly, I was the least likely person to be in this mess.
Yet here I was, kidnapped and tied up in somebody's basement, bunker, or whatever with my mind going crazy. I almost wished someone would come in and start the horror.
I know it's a stupid filler chapter but I'm sorryyy I'll keep trying. xoxo Happy new year!!!!
